vanessa lachey talking about NCIS: Hawai'i in behind-the-scenes video

The NCIS franchise is expanding once more with its new Hawai'i spinoff, and the series has officially wrapped filming on its first two episodes. Following a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony when production first started, NCIS: Hawai'i got its production process off seemingly without a hitch. And director/executive producer Larry Teng has given fans some behind-the-scenes first looks to tide everyone over - pun mostly unintended - until the premiere.

Larry Teng shared a photo on Instagram of him and his NCIS ohana to celebrate the wrapping of Episodes one and two of NCIS: Hawai'i after a 22-day span. He was very thankful to the cast and crew in his post and while he didn’t specifically say it, he’s most likely looking forward to making even more memories with everyone as work on Season 1 continues:

And that is definitely not the only photo Larry Teng has posted during the NCIS: Hawai'i filming process. He shared a photo with stars Vanessa Lachey and Alex Tarrant at Pearl Harbor, where everyone was all smiles. It’s clear the three of them are excited about where this journey will bring them and fans, as well as what the future of the NCIS franchise will look like when Hawai'i joins the ranks.

Happy-go-lucky photos aren’t all that Larry Teng has teased fans with, either. He also offered future viewers an inside look at a night shoot for NCIS: Hawai'i that took place on the water, with a drenched Vanessa Lachey giving the play-by-play as the rest of her castmates tried to make the most of what appeared to be a cold and windy night:

With NCIS: Los Angeles stars being quick to share their excitement for the new addition whenever the spinoff was first announced, NCIS: Hawai'i started making big waves earlier this year - pun barely unintended - when it cast Vanessa Lachey as the franchise’s first female lead. With the new series being paired with NCIS and CBS eyeing streaming as a prominent part for Hawai'i’s success, there is no doubt the show will go far, with new details recently unveiled explaining what exactly will bring Lachey’s Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant to the North Shore. If nothing else, the new show hopefully remove the sting of NCIS: New Orleans' untimely cancellation.

As NCIS: Hawai'i gears up for its big debut this fall, fans will be able to look forward to more behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the cast and crew. Hopefully it won’t be long until an official trailer is released that will give even more information about what to expect from this new series, and how it could tie in to its predecessors. Some non-BTS video would rock, too. With Hawai'i premiering next month, it will be interesting to see what will happen and if it and its ensemble cast will live up to the other NCIS series.

Joining plenty of other great shows on the 2021 Fall TV schedule, NCIS: Hawai'i premieres on CBS Monday, September 20, at 10:00 p.m. ET.
