Netflix's Stranger Things Star Promises An ‘Insane’ Season 4 After Two Years Of Production

It’s been a long two years since fans celebrated 4th of July with Stranger Things Season 3, and thanks to COVID, the road to Season 4 has felt never-ending. However, this long wait has served to be a plus for the creative team, as it’s given the writers and various crew members more time to make this upcoming season the best one ever. And according to star Caleb McLaughlin, it’s going to be in-flipping-sane.

Caleb McLaughlin, who portrays Lucas Sinclair in the Netflix series, talked about the highly-anticipated upcoming season in an interview with Complex. While specific details are obviously still being kept under lock and key, McLaughlin teased that Season 4 of Stranger Things, which has been filming for two years now, is going to be like nothing anyone has seen before and will be totally unpredictable. In his words:

I’m excited for people to see the season. We’ve been filming it right now for the past year and a half, two years because of COVID. I’m really excited for everyone to see the season. It’s definitely different from the last couple of seasons. Storylines are insane. It’s going to be really exciting to see what people think about this. While I’m talking about this, I’m thinking about what we’ve been filming and I’m just like, ‘Wow. No one knows what is to come. It’s insane.’

Stranger Things made a name for itself being insane and unpredictable in the first three seasons, so to think that Season 4 will top that madness is quite an exciting prospect indeed, presuming Caleb McLaughlin is talking about horrifying monsters and hair-raising thrills, of course, and isn't hinting that the entire season will take place inside of a DMV or something.

The content on-screen isn't the only thing that'll be different, either. Natalie Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler, revealed last year that there will likely be nine episodes for Season 4 instead of eight. While that may turn out to not be true, fans can for now look forward to possibly getting an extra hour of insanity from Caleb McLaughlin & Co. Well, the insanity will probably happen TO Lucas and the others, but still.

Season 3 of Stranger Things ended on a very heartbreaking note when David Harbour’s Hopper sacrificed himself, but even though fans were torn up about it, neither Netflix nor star David Harbour put a lot of effort into shielding fans from the knowledge that he'll be returning. The Black Widow actor has already clued viewers in on what his character is going to be going through in Season 4 and why the upcoming season is his favorite. He must like narrative insanity as much as Caleb McLaughlin. It really seems like Stranger Things is kicking things up a notch for Season 4, and the long wait will hopefully be worth it when new episodes finally drop on Netflix.

Currently there is no set premiere date for Season 4 of Stranger Things, so fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer to see when all the characters will be returning to our lives. In the meantime, head to our 2021 Fall TV schedule to see what's debuting in the meantime.
