Xavier Prather explaining his nominations Big Brother CBS

Warning! The following contains spoilers from the Big Brother Season 23 live feeds. Read at your own risk!

Big Brother Season 23 is already nearly at its third eviction, and things are heating up in the house. All of the alliances are talking about who would be best to have in the jury for the end of the game, and of course, everyone has been drilling down on who they want to send home during Xavier Prather's Head of Household reign.

Christian Birkenberger ended up with the veto win, but in not wanting to ruffle the feathers of his King's teammate Xavier, Christian opted not to use the Power of Veto. That means Britini D'Angelo and Brent Champagne are both still up for eviction, though it's looking like one is far more likely to go home than the other one at the moment.

Brent Will Likely Be Evicted In Week 3

Big Brother fans may have assumed the ball would drop on Brent Champagne soon after Brandon "Frenchie" French's exit, with Brent operating as Frenchie's right-hand man during the Week 1 Head of Household. Obviously, that played a factor in his name being floated for eviction, but there's also the fact that he's rubbed a good number of people in the house the wrong way. He's told other Houseguests that they're clearly into him romantically, which Alyssa Lopez and Hannah Chaddha are clearly not into, and Xavier Prather mentioned that a couple of Brent's comments have "danced on the line" of being inappropriate. For that reason, combined with his general ability to be a physical threat in competitions, Brent is far more likely to go home than Britini D'Angelo.

Can Brent Still Be Saved?

If there were a roadmap for Brent Champagne to save himself, he would deny it because he's planning on a staycation. In a bizarre twist of events, Brent not only believes that he's safe from eviction this week, but also that he's successfully convinced each and every person available to vote this week to go against Xavier Prather's wishes and boot Britini D'Angelo out of the house unanimously. In reality, Xavier has encouraged Houseguests to let Brent believe that he is safe, mainly so that everyone can have some peace over the next few days.

Brent is so confident he's staying, in fact, that he's not even planning on doing 1-on-1 meetings before the eviction, and has a grand plan to tell Xavier "checkmate" before host Julie Chen Moonves reads the vote during Big Brother's live eviction on Thursday. He's been hyping the upcoming vote as the biggest blindside in the show's history, and it may just be, but not in the way he's thinking.

With all of that said, there is a chance that Brent Champagne getting blindsided by defeat will be spoiled by his Aces teammates (Whitney Williams, Derek Xiao, and Hannah Chaddha), who may want to tell him the situation shortly before the live show starts. That would certainly be an act of kindness for the potentially exiting cast member, and might allow him to come to terms with it all. Perhaps more importantly, it would prevent him from embarrassing himself with any kind of "checkmate" comment. That would probably be disappointing to Big Brother fans who always love to see a stunned Houseguest blindsided, but there are no guarantees for what Brent will be told just yet.
