If you're someone who pays even the slightest bit of attention to celebrity news, you'll know that celebrities have just as many, if not more, romantic ups and downs as the rest of us. While their relationships can be tricky whether they're involved with other celebrities or not, there do seem to be particular challenges involved when dating someone who doesn't work in entertainment in some way. Former New Girl cast member Zooey Deschanel and the Property Brothers' Jonathan Scott have been going strong as a couple since late 2019, but she's now admitted that it is tough to date a celebrity.

Zooey Deschanel has been recognizable for quite some time, and, during her years in the spotlight, has had a couple of public relationships with other famous folk. While she and HGTV megastar Jonathan Scott met during the filming of Carpool Karaoke: The Series in August 2019 and have appeared to be a solid couple ever since, even she can admit that it's probably very hard for a non-famous person to date a celebrity. While chatting with Extra about her gig hosting The Celebrity Dating Game, she was asked if she really thinks the well known among us have trouble dating, and Deschanel said:

Yeah. I think people have preconceived notions of well known people, and it's really hard to shake those preconceived notions. Especially if they're dating someone who maybe doesn't know first hand all those, kind of, all those things that go along with notoriety.

Zooey Deschanel makes a very good point. I'm sure that there are a lot of people who would jump at the chance to date someone famous, only to realize that they're actually not interested in several aspects of celebrity lifestyle. If you begin dating someone who's very famous, you could suddenly find yourself being gossiped about / discussed online or even in national or international publications. And, if you and your celebrated boo live in a location where paparazzi abound, any simple date night or attempt to get groceries could turn into an unwanted event.

This is not to mention that people who act, sing, direct, dance, etc. for a living are frequently away from home for many more hours a day than those of us with non-entertainment industry jobs, and that's if they're even near their home at all, seeing as how they often find themselves in other states or countries for extended periods of time to work. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra might only manage to see each other once a month, but at least they were fully prepared for that potential caveat of celebrity romance going in.

During her interview, Zooey Deschanel also noted that she thinks The Celebrity Dating game is a good way to hook the famous up with us regular people, and when asked if she'd be interested in appearing on such a show if she were single, Deschanel replied:

Me? No. No. Definitely not.

Ahhh. Well, I suppose it's a good thing that Zooey Deschanel doesn't have to worry about that at the moment, or, hopefully, for a long time to come.

The Celebrity Dating Game airs on ABC, Mondays at 10 p.m. EST, but for more to watch, check out our 2021 summer TV schedule!
