After Ted Lasso Season 2 Reference, Diane Sawyer Had The Best Response For Jason Sudeikis' Character

The second season premiere of Apple TV+’s comedy Ted Lasso recently dropped on the streamer and fans already can't get enough of it. The series, which stars Jason Sudeikis as football coach Ted Lasso, has especially been getting attention from broadcast journalist Diane Sawyer, and for good reason.

In the first episode of Season 2 of Ted Lasso, Coach Lasso is offered a cocktail. Jason Sudeikis’ character brings up Diane Sawyer. The famed broadcaster responded to the clip on Twitter in the best way possible.

Wouldn’t that be something? It looks like Diane Sawyer is definitely up for a date with Ted Lasso. And she isn’t the only one on board. Following her response, the Ted Lasso Twitter responded with a quick quip and asked her for her preferences in food. Could this be the start of something new?

Oh my…you’ve got me more on my heels than Lady Gaga at the Met Gala. Any chance you like biscuits?

Ted Lasso being Ted Lasso means that he’s constantly pulling references and not exactly saying everything as straight as he should. The tweet to Diane Sawyer is the perfect response for what the character would actually say. His charm and comedic timing don't make it so surprising that someone like Diane Sawyer would say she’s in for a date. Maybe she could make a guest appearance later in the series? It would definitely make for an interesting storyline.

Meanwhile, Season 2 of the Apple TV+ comedy will be a little longer than the first season. Last year the series was quickly renewed for a second season and earlier this year it was announced that Apple TV+ added on extra episodes to Season 2. Fans will have plenty more of Coach Lasso this year as he continues to coach a professional soccer team in the U.K. despite not knowing anything about the sport.

It should also be known that before Season 2 even premiered, Apple already gave the greenlight for a third season of Ted Lasso. Apple TV+ is quickly joining the ranks of Netflix, Hulu and co. with successful series. The streamer has found success with dramas Defending Jacob and The Morning Show, and after Ted Lasso, has also found success with new musical comedy Schmigadoon! starring fellow Saturday Night Live vet Cecily Strong, with an A-list cast.

There is no telling just what Ted Lasso will be getting into this season, but considering the success of its first season, fans have nothing to worry about. Though the writers may need to write in a spontaneous date between Coach Lasso and Diane Sawyer, if it ever comes to fruition in the series itself. New episodes of Ted Lasso release on Fridays on Apple TV+.
