At Least One Counting On Star Is Wearing Shorts Now And That's A Big Deal For The Duggars

Counting on cast earlier in its run before TLC cancelled

It was only in recent months that some of the Duggar sisters initially began breaking some of the rules of their famous family, including wearing pants. We saw Jessa Duggar in comfy sweatpants for a YouTube DIY video she was working on. Then, pants began to pepper some of the other Duggar family posts. Flash forward a few more months and at least one of the Duggar daughters has started to be even more daring with her wardrobe. In fact, Jinger Duggar Vuolo wore shorts in recent posts and that’s an even bigger deal considering the modesty rules she grew up following.

Modesty has always been the name of the game for the female members of the Duggar clan. In the past, they’ve spoken out about how skirts really needed to “fall below the knee” and more. However, in recent weeks both Jinger Duggar Vuolo and her husband Jeremy Vuolo have shared posts online of her choosing to work out in shorts -- a major change for any female member of the Duggar clan.

It's worth noting that Jinger Duggar Vuolo has always been the more fashion forward Duggar clan member. This became particularly true after the couple moved their family to Los Angeles, California a couple of years ago. Since then, skinny jeans have become a staple of Jinger Duggar’s wardrobe. So, if there were ever going to be a Duggar lady to dive headfirst into the world of wearing shorts, my bet would have been on Jinger. It turns out, it’s not just exercise clothing she’s wearing shorts for either as her husband also shared a snap of her in jean shorts while working out in the yard a few weeks ago.

Previously, matriarch Michelle Duggar may not have allowed her female children to wear pants or shorts during the time 19 Kids and Counting was on the air on TLC, but overall she seems OK with her children making their own choices. She previously noted some of her girls have “different convictions,” also saying:

It’s OK that my kids may have different convictions than me. I know that he’s leading them and that’s the most important thing — their walk, their relationship with God. And they really love the Lord. And I can honestly say I can have no greater joy.

It’s a big time of transitions for the Duggar clan. Counting On was recently cancelled in the wake of eldest brother Josh Duggar’s arrest on child pornography charges. These has obviously resulted in an income loss for Jim Bob Duggar and co. They are all looking for new ways of moving forward (one of them is even selling items on Poshmark) and, in fact, Jinger Duggar and her partner were the first of the family to break their silence about the cancellation. The shorts thing simply seems to be another way of breaking away from her family and forging her own path.
