Amazon has been turning out hit after hit with some amazing shows. While you can spend your days watching the best movies on Amazon Prime, why not check out some of the best Amazon Prime original TV shows to watch right now?

Some of these might even pop up on the 2024 TV premiere schedule, giving viewers more amazing seasons to stream. From superhero shows like The Boys to comedies like Upload or Fleabag, there are so many options to choose from. Here are some of the best that Amazon Prime currently has to offer subscribers.

Bloodied Mark Grayson in Invincible Season 2

Invincible (2021 - Present)

In a world where superhero shows like WandaVision and Loki exist, it’s nice to find a show that’s outside the norm. Invincible tells the story of the Grayson family, specifically Mark Grayson, who finds out that he has superhero powers, much like his dad, and he begins to train, trying to live up to his hero name – Invincible

Let me tell you, your expectations for this show will be subverted immediately. Invincible was created by the same mind behind The Walking Dead: that of Robert Kirkman. This show takes so many twists and turns that it’s almost impossible to keep your head on straight – and honestly, it’s become one of the best adult cartoons I’ve seen. Season 2 is currently airing at the time of updating this, so you better check it out now.

Mr. And Mrs. Smith (2023)

Are you ready for a spy dramedy that will have you on the edge of your seat? Then Mr. and Mrs. Smith is the one for you. This series, based on the movie of the same name, follows two agents who are assigned to act under the guise of a married couple in order to complete assignments, all while their relationship grows.

Donald Glover of Atlanta and Community fame and Maya Erskin of Pen15 star in this series, and I’m going to openly say I love it more than the original. I think adding in the fact that their relationship evolves so well, mixed in with some truly great comedy, makes this a great series. I honestly hope that it gets a Season 2 – even if the first season took forever to get made.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (2018 - 2023)

One of the most original Prime Video series that there is, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan stars John Krasinski in the titular role, a CIA analyst whose life is turned upside down when he discovers a secret pattern in an underground terrorist organization that ends up putting his life at risk – and that’s just the first season. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is a great, fun-filled thriller. John Krasinski is great in the title role, and no matter what, you’ll be on the edge of your seat to see him be a total and complete badass. There are four complete seasons, so it will be an epic binge.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017 - 2023)

Another show to win several Emmys, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is the perfect series to make you laugh. This comedy follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel, an energetic woman who had her life mapped out for her. But, when her husband leaves her for his secretary, she takes it upon herself to find her place in the world.

The story takes place in the 1950s and '60s, so the set design itself is spectacular. What really makes The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel tick is that the comedy is better than probably a lot of other shows I’ve watched. I mean, the whole entire show is about a woman who’s trying to make it as a stand-up comedian, so it better be funny, right? Even so, the comedy only becomes better when dramatic elements are added, creating an enriching story with a strong message on female empowerment and independence. With five seasons, the show is the perfect series to binge during your free time.

Karl Urban and Antony Starr on The Boys

The Boys (2019 - Present)

Ooh boy. This is my favorite. The Boys takes place in a universe where superheroes, commonly called “Supes,” are run by a corporation called Vought. Everything seems peachy keen on the outside, but when a new superhero is added to their team of fighters, the dark secrets of this industry begin to unfold, along with the titular "The Boys" forming to take them down.

The Boys is not a nice superhero show, and you get that notion almost instantly within the first couple of minutes. I won’t say what happens, but you’ll be shocked. The story is interesting and sometimes makes you want to throw your remote at the TV screen for how evil some of these characters can be, but that’s what makes this show so fun – you love to hate the Supes. The Boys Season 4 will arrive in June 2024, so it’s time to check out the first three.

Jaz Sinclaire as Marie in Gen V

Gen V (2023 – Present)

Yes, I know, we’re all waiting for The Boys, but have you seen Gen V? Because you need to.

Taking place in the universe of The Boys, this series follows the tale of Marie, a young Supe who has blood manipulation powers, and is accepted into Godolkin University, a place where Supes attend to learn how they’re going to spend the rest of their lives with their powers. However, when she arrives, she finds out there are deeper, darker secrets hidden in her new school.

If you’re not watching Gen V, you’re missing out. Out of any spinoff that The Boys could create, this one adds so much to the universe and somehow is able to capture the same spirit and messed-up nature as the first show. You’ll fall in love with the Gen V cast, and enjoy the heck out of the gore and messy nature of the show.  And yes, I’m already ready for Gen V Season 2

The two stars of In Your Dreams.

In Your Dreams (2023)

Hailing from South Africa, In Your Dreams is a great fantasy drama that I think plenty of fantasy lovers will enjoy. This show, taking place over six episodes, follows childhood best friends who are now in business together, but find themselves in a world of trouble when they activate a powerful statue that is able to bring not only their dreams, but worst nightmares and fears to life. It’s up to them – with the help of an old friend – to overcome them.

If you know me, you know I love international shows and believe they really deserve all the praise in the world, if not more. In Your Dreams is an excellent example of that, a series that isn’t as well known in America but is so worth the time to watch. If you’re into fantasy, friendships and more, this is the show for you.

Aziraphale returning to Heaven in Good Omens Season 2

Good Omens (2019 - Present)

Of course Amazon Prime needed to hop on the devils and angels train after shows like Lucifer got so popular. However, Good Omens does this exceptionally well.

This series, based on the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett book of the same name, follows the demon Crowley, and the angel Aziraphale, with the two of them being acquaintances who've grown to enjoy life on Earth, working as representatives of both Heaven and Hell, who seek to prevent the Antichrist from coming and bringing on the end of the world.

For something that uses religion as a premise, this show takes that and runs with it in a good way. The fantasy aspect is super intriguing and really builds on the world as the show goes on, but the jokes that land are even better. Michael Sheen and David Tennant work incredibly well together and have such great chemistry. And what makes it even better is that Neil Gaiman himself, one of the authors of the original book, created and wrote this series. That’s how you know it’s good. With two seasons, it’s so much fun to watch.

Chase Dillon in The Underground Railroad

The Underground Railroad (2021)

The Underground Railroad is definitely worth a watch. In this historical drama, based on the novel of the same name by Colson Whitehead, we get to see a fictionalized account of a group of people trying to escape slavery in the United States in the 1800s, utilizing aid from others.

The show itself is very different from the real-life version of the actual underground railroad, however, it’s still entertaining to watch. The Underground Railroad incorporates different aspects of several genres, really creating an enriching experience for everyone. You don’t even need to be into history to watch this – it’s genuinely just a super interesting miniseries to watch.

Erika Henningsen on Hazbin Hotel

Hazbin Hotel (2024 – Present)

Hell is forever, whether you like it or not. Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated series that is produced by A24, if that gives you an idea as to what you’re getting into. The main premise of the series follows a princess of Hell who is determined to find a way to rehabilitate Sinners to somehow find a way into Heaven in order to avoid the annual “Extermination,” something used to permanently get rid of souls due to crowding in Hell.

God, what can I say about this show that hasn’t already been said? Hazbin Hotel is unlike any other adult animated series out there. It’s freaking hilarious, has some overwhelmingly good messages about good and evil and the grey area in-between, and features some of the best songs out there. And, who sings those songs? Broadway legends such as Alex Brightman from Beetlejuice, Kimiko Glenn from Waitress and so many more. Check it out, you won’t regret it – but keep the kids away from this one.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Fleabag.

Fleabag (2016 - 2019)

When this show aired, it won awards left and right. Fleabag, a British comedy, tells the story of a young woman who is trying to live in London and dealing with life while trying to accept a personal tragedy. This woman is known only as “Fleabag” in the series, and she wants to find her way in the world.

Let me just say first that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is brilliant in this series. Her comedic timing is on point and she deserved every award she got for portraying Fleabag. But, all the comedy in this is just fantastic. Every actor works well off of each other, creating some truly fantastic moments, alongside some real heartwarming ones, too. While it’s a shame that the show only ran for two seasons, it’s still the perfect example, in my eyes, of what a comedy should be.

007: Road To A Million (2023)

If you love James Bond, but you also love competition shows, then 007: Road to a Million is for you. Hosted by Succession cast star, Brian Cox, this series follows nine teams of two as they race to get to one million pounds, all through a series of spy-related challenges.

As someone who likes reality competitions, I will say that this is a fun time. I wasn’t even a huge fan of the James Bond franchise but I decided to give it a shot because I like watching crazy challenges and this one certainly has that and more.

Giovanni Ribisi in Sneaky Pete.

Sneaky Pete (2015 - 2019)

If you like antiheroes, Sneaky Pete is the way to go for you. In this series, we get to see the tale of Marius Josipovic, a conman who has just gotten out of jail after three years. Following this, he takes on the identity of his former cellmate, Pete Murphy, to con his estranged family – none of whom have seen Pete for 20 years.

Antiheroes are always some of my favorite characters, just because they are so complex. From people like Deadpool to Harley Quinn, even down to Walter White, they’re so interesting, and that’s exactly where Sneaky Pete takes you. I won’t give too much away about the series, but sometimes you’ll be cheering for the guy, and other times you’ll be yelling – but that’s what a good antihero does. With plenty of episodes to watch, this is a win for sure.

Alan Ritchson in Reacher

Reacher (2022 - Present)

Do you want an intense drama? Check out Reacher. Starring Alan Ritchson, this series, based on the book series of the same name by Lee Child, is all about the title character, Jack Reacher, a drifter and  former military policeman. But when he arrives in a smalltown in the south of the United States, he finds himself thrown into more battles and more criminals than he ever thought he would experience.

As someone who actually used to read the Jack Reacher books, I can openly say I really love this series. They did such a great adaptation and Alan Ritchson is the perfect person to play the title character. The Reacher cast itself is outstanding, and now, Reacher has already been renewed for a Season 3, so you better get to watching.

The Legend Of Vox Machina (2022 – Present)

I’ll be the first person to recommend an animated show to someone, and The Legend of Vox Machina is right up there with Invincible in being some of the best adult animated shows out there. The series, based on the first campaign of the game Dungeons and Dragons from the web series, Critical Role, follows several magical beings as part of the Vox Machina crew. They travel on various missions together, varying in crazy and hilarious magical moments.

Okay, so I know at first glance, this sounds insane, but I promise that you really don’t even need to be familiar with Dungeons and Dragons to enjoy this series. I wasn’t at the time, and I still laughed my butt off because the people who voice the roles are the actual players of Critical Role, and it’s just as insane as the web series except in animated form. This show aims to make you laugh and impress you with its animation – which is why you need to give it a shot.

Daisy Jones And The Six (2023)

Based on the novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones and the Six tells the story of a fictional rock band from the 1970s, who are looking back at  their rise to fame and the lengths they had to go to get there – as well as the reason why they ended up splitting up after reaching great heights of fame.

There are so many reasons to like Daisy Jones and the Six. Whether it be because of its stellar cast, or the great story, or the freaking awesome music that plays throughout the miniseries, this show was a big home run for the streaming platform. You’ll seriously either be rocking out every second, or wiping tears from your eyes the next. A great dramatic miniseries.

Some of the main characters of The Expanse on Amazon Prime.

The Expanse (2015 - 2022)

While it originally began as a Syfy network show, it moved over to Amazon and became one of the best shows there. The Expanse is set in the future, where humanity has found a way to colonize the Solar System and follows a group of people who place themselves at the center of a conspiracy that could ignite a war between planets and their people.

This science-fiction show is freaking awesome. The visuals are amazing, the characters are interesting and capture your interest, and the story is captivating in a way like no other. I mean, could you imagine ruling a whole Solar System? That’s what The Expanse dares to explore – and does it perfectly. The show came to an end with its sixth season, but all of the episodes are available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Dominique Fishback in Swarm

Swarm (2023)

Co-created by Donald Glover, the psychological horror series, Swarm, takes a look at the toxic nature that is “stan” culture. The series follows Andrea, otherwise known as Dre, and her obsessive love that she has for a major pop star called Ni’Jah. But with this love that she has for the star, she is willing to do anything to meet her, even betray and kill those close to her.

As someone who has been a part of “stan” culture for various artists of the past, this show takes it to a new level of craziness and it’s something that I absolutely love. The Swarm cast is full of talent, led by an impressive performance by Dominique Fishback, and has some incredibly gory moments that will make horror movie fanatics squirm in their seats. Such a great show. The series was even nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Fishback’s killer performance.

A screenshot of Robbie Amell as Nathan looking up in Upload.

Upload (2020 - Present)

Created by the same man who made the U.S. version of The Office, this Amazon Prime series is brilliant in its comedic delivery. Greg Daniels’ Upload takes place in a world where, when someone dies, they can upload themselves to their selected digital paradise. However, when Nathan Brown (Robbie Amell) dies suddenly, he has to find out what killed him from the beyond – while his girlfriend in the real world stays overly attached to him in a strange way.

Upload is definitely one of the standouts of Amazon Prime comedy, and while fans had to wait two years for Season 2, it was worth it, because Season 3 came a lot quicker, and a fourth (and final) season has been confirmed. This series was made for people who want a great story but also want to laugh their butts off. Be sure to check it out.

Stream Upload on Amazon Prime.

With shows like these available, there’s no need to go browsing for your next series to binge. Truly, if you want a great show to watch, check out any of the Prime Video series on this list. You won’t regret your time, and you can look forward to the new seasons for some that are still to come.
