Here's What Disney+ Is Adding In July 2021

Scarlett Johansson in Black Widow

Disney+ as a streaming service had one major benefit that the majority of its competitors could never compete with when it launched. It had an unparalleled library of content. From Mickey Mouse cartoons to animated feature films to Marvel and Star Wars, there's just no single studio that has the breadth and depth of content that is so universally beloved as the Walt Disney Company. And to be sure, a lot of that great content is available on the service. But as with all other streaming services, a lot of the focus has actually been on releasing new, original content, and we're seeing a lot of that in July with new series based on everything from Monsters Inc. to Turner and Hooch. Oh, and also a couple of major movies like Black Widow and Jungle Cruise.

July will open with new episodes of everything from Loki to The Bad Batch, but it will also see the launch of a brand new animated series from Pixar, Monsters at Work, which will act as a direct sequel to the Pixar film. Of course, the big release for early July is Black Widow. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's first movie in over two years will finally debut on July 8, both in theaters and as a Disney+ Premiere Access title. The same week will see the launch of a new series, Turner & Hooch, based on the 1989 Tom Hanks film, and apparently set as a direct sequel to that movie as well. The weeks that follow will see a new Chip & Dale animated series as well as a new documentary series that will take a look at several Disney theme park attractions, the new Behind the Attraction series is produced by Dwayne Johnson.

And then, after you've had a chance to see Dwayne Johnson produce a documentary about the Jungle Cruise, you'll have a chance to see Dwayne Johnson star in a movie based on the Jungle Cruise.
