One Darling Friends: The Reunion Moment David Schwimmer Pointed Out That Fans Probably Missed

HBO Max

The highly-anticipated Friends: The Reunion special finally dropped on HBO Max last week and many fans were ecstatic to see the cast get together after nearly two decades. The special included the cast going back to the set on the Warner Bros. lot, reading through scripts and sitting down and talking to James Corden in front of a masked audience. Though there is one moment with the cast that fans may have not seen.

It was an emotional time for the Friends cast when they reunited on the recreated set after many years. Seeing the apartment sets, the café, and the iconic couch again packed a nostalgic punch as they came on one by one. Lisa Kudrow told E! News’ Daily Pop about the reunion and a special moment that happened when Courteney Cox came onto the set, that David Schwimmer actually pointed out when they watched it together. Kudrow shared:

Well, Courteney comes in and bursts into tears — and then Schwimmer pointed this out, we were watching it together like Thursday night — and I grab a napkin or a tissue. LeBlanc takes it because he is telling us a story and doesn't want to skip a beat and starts dabbing her eyes, just on automatic. That's who we were!

Even the more than 15 years that have passed since the 2004 series finale of Friends haven't erased the bond that the stars formed over all their time together! For fans who missed this moment, David Schwimmer catching it and Lisa Kudrow sharing it just sweetens the reunion special all the more.

Last year, the Friends reunion special was put on hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but they were finally able to film it later in the year, while following protocols. David Schwimmer even shared the tricky component about filming the reunion, which was including the live audience. Luckily with the audience wearing masks, they were able to include many fans, and even some famous ones that made special appearances.

The Friends reunion special on HBO Max was one that fans had been waiting a while for and while it seemed like it would never happen, it did. It was nostalgic and emotional and made you wish that the series was still going on but thankful for streaming. Although some fans didn’t like that Friends had said goodbye to Netflix, those with HBO Max are more than happy that they are still with the gang. Jennifer Aniston even posted a heartfelt message and photo to Instagram following the reunion’s release, along with behind-the-scenes pictures, while Lisa Kudrow also posted on Instagram and Courteney Cox opened up about it on The Ellen Show, which is also filmed on the Warner Bros. lot.

It’s likely that the Friends cast won’t get together like this again, at least for a while, so the HBO Max special is something that fans can cherish for quite some time. It’s everything that every Friends fan can hope for, and more, besides some guests that should have been there. To know that the special was even more emotional for the cast says a lot. Friends: The Reunion is streaming now on HBO Max.
