The Bold Type Star Shares The Final Season’s Sweet Callback To The First Episode

Freeform’s The Bold Type is in the midst of its final season, and while fans are sad to see it go, it sounds like the writers, cast, and crew have put their hearts and souls into a satisfactory ending. While wrapping up the stories of the three leading ladies, Season 5 will see the return of some past friendly faces and subtle nods to the show’s journey. Katie Stevens (Jane) recently shared the final season’s sweet callback to the first episode.

Known for its dynamic storytelling and not shying away from hot-button issues, The Bold Type is expected to have some surprises in store in these last few episodes. I got to sit down with Katie Stevens who plays Jane Sloane for an interview with CinemaBlend and tried to get the juicy deets while avoiding spoilers. Here’s what she teased:

I'll say I'm very excited for Episode 4. I won't elaborate any more than that. I'm very excited for Episode 4 and I'm very excited for people to see the final episode.

Okay, so she had to be cryptic, understandably, but we’re only a couple of weeks away from Episode 4 and I can’t wait to see what happens! Will it be career-related or personal? Which of the girls is at the center of it? Right now, it’s anyone’s guess.

Katie Stevens did go on to elaborate about a beautiful callback to the first episode that we’ll see in the upcoming finale. The moment has been teased in the Season 5 trailer. It will be nostalgic for fans to view and sounds like it was so special to film. Here’s what Stevens said:

I'm excited that I actually can talk about this because they put it in the trailer. I thought it was going to be a secret. But there is, we recreate the moment in the pilot where we are all screaming at the train, but instead of that, we're like on the street and a bus passes and we're screaming in the middle of the street. And our costumer Mandi Line had the really sweet, brilliant idea to dress us in the same colors as our dresses from the pilot. So it was a really sweet callback to have in the last episode. I'm excited for so much this season. It's really hard to wrap up five years in six episodes, but I think that the writers did a really good job. And I think that all of these girls end up where they're supposed to. And I think, in a way, we leave it open to where fans can kind of daydream about what happens next.

Well, there you have it. Katie Stevens implied that we will get conclusions for Jane, Kat, and Sutton, but not so finite that there will be nothing more to imagine for their futures. The heart of The Bold Type is the friendship formed between the three girls, which is solidified when they scream at the train in the first episode, so it makes perfect sense that they would end that way, too. And we won’t have to worry about any tragic loss of friendship at the end.

Season 5 of The Bold Type is currently airing on Freeform Wednesday nights and available the next day on Hulu. If you’re looking for a new show, you should absolutely be watching Cruel Summer. CinemaBlend’s 2021 summer TV schedule will keep you up to date with all new and returning shows.
