The Mandalorian Season 2 offered fans with a number of cool moments, from Boba Fett’s explosive return to the climactic battle between Din Djarin and Moff Gideon. Among the season’s highlights was the live-action debut of Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Bo-Katan Kryze, who was played by her voice actress -- the incomparable Katee Sackhoff. Having voiced the character for some time now, Sackhoff knows Bo-Katan better than most, but that didn’t stop her from panicking when she first arrived on set.

Walking onto the set of a production like The Mandalorian would be overwhelming for just about any of us, but that mostly comes from the sheer scale of the project. Katee Sackhoff’s on-set concern, on the other hand, was related to her fan-favorite character:

Because I played the character for so long, it was actually, in the beginning, a little bit of a disservice because I thought I was more prepared than I was. I knew the character, I memorized my dialogue, I was ready. And then I got to the set and I was like, ‘Oh, shoot.’ I've never walked as her. I've never moved as her. How does Bo-Katan sit? I don't know anything. And I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I was panicked. Thankfully, Bryce was directing that episode. Really, might I add, Jesus, her episode was amazing.

As Katee Sackhoff explained to Looper, she knew the history of her character and memorized her lines. However, because she had never played the character in live-action, she didn’t realize she’d need to consider what Bo-Katan’s body language would be like. It’s good to hear Sackhoff was able to lean on director Bryce Dallas Howard for support when faced with this revelation.

If you’ve seen Katee Sackhoff’s performance on The Mandalorian, then you know she nailed the role of Bo-Katan, making the character’s live-action transition smooth. She not only looked the part, but she also maintained Kryze’s honorable demeanor and imposing combat skills.

Katee Sackhoff has spoken quite a bit on what it was like to work on The Mandalorian Season 2. While things went generally well, there was a bit of a learning curve, as she experienced some confusion when it came to the show’s on-set stormtroopers. You can see Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan in action by streaming the show on Disney+, which you can sign up for using this link.

What lies ahead for Bo-Katan remains to be seen, though there’s a good chance fans will see Katee Sackhoff reprise the role in The Mandalorian Season 3. The Darksaber Kryze coveted for so long now technically belongs to Din Djarin, and it’s safe to assume the two of them are going to have to hash things when it comes to the ancient weapon.
