Candace Cameron Bure Asks Full House's Bob Saget For His Honest Opinion After Online Trolls Claim She's 'Fake'

Candace Cameron Bure in Hallmark Channel's Finding Normal

Full House created a bond between Candace Cameron Bure and Bob Saget that still stands over 30 years later. Honestly, who would know Cameron Bure better than Saget? Over the years, The actress and producer’s public persona has cultivated both fans and haters, leading Cameron Bure to ask Saget if he considered her to be “fake.”

Former Full House co-stars Bob Saget and Candace Cameron Bure really do seem to have a father/daughter-type bond. That was very clear, as Saget interviewed Cameron Bure on the Bob Saget’s Here for You podcast. The former co-stars conversed about various topics before hitting on the public’s perception of the Hallmark star. The actress-producer asked Saget:

I’m going to ask you to talk about me for a second... For those people that think that because I am a happy, positive person, that I must be a fake person, would you say that that’s true or false?

Candace Cameron Bure seemed genuinely curious about her public persona. Some members of the public have perceived Cameron Bure that way because of her interviews and social media presence. Another angle in their perception is her staunch Christian beliefs. In a normal setting, the actress’s positive personality would’ve been welcome, but social media has somewhat caused the public to be more cynical, into believing constant optimism to be fake. Fortunately, the actress hasn’t let that stop her from spreading her sunny outlook.

After Candace Cameron Bure’s question, Bob Saget came to her defense. Having known her for years, the actor gave some insight and had this to say about Cameron Bure:

You’re the opposite of fake. When you are doing anything, you don’t phone it in… And I’m sorry — you’re perky sometimes. What’s wrong with being perky?

After Bob Saget came to her defense, Candace Cameron Bure was grateful for her former co-star’s words. The actress-producer then explained why she asked Saget that initial question:

Thank you, I only ask that because sometimes you read comments, and most of them, they roll off my back. But when people are annoyed at me that I’m such a happy person … I was, like, let someone speak into this that’s known me since I was 9 years old.

As Candace Cameron Bure pointed out, it’s better to let someone speak up about you rather than constantly trying to defend yourself. Knowing the history between Cameron Bure and Bob Saget really drives that point home even further. But in all honestly, she really didn’t need Saget to speak up for her.

For months now, Candace Cameron Bure has been the queen of clapbacks. Whether it’s her and her husband’s PDA or her brother Kirk Cameron’s maskless events, Cameron Bure hasn’t been afraid to come for online trolls. She even gave some uninformed fans push back over her work with Hallmark. These moments proved she is capable of handling any disparaging remarks aimed at her.

It was nice to hear Bob Saget come to Candace Cameron Bure’s defense, and it's a true testament to the relationship the two have forged from working on Full House and Fuller House. In the end, Cameron Bure needed some reassurance from someone who’s known her for years.
