WandaVision’s ‘Agatha All Along’ Songwriters Have Heard Those Remixes, And They Have Thoughts

Spoilers below for WandaVision lie ahead.

One thing the Internet is spectacularly good at is taking an idea and running with it. We've seen it before with video challenges and pop cultural roasts, but the collective is now channeling WandaVision's latest catchy tune, “Agatha All Along,” into hilarious remixes. And the original songwriters have some thoughts.

“Agatha All Along,” like much of the aesthetic and other sounds on WandaVision, is a riff on the comforting and misleading facade of a bygone time. The song reveals to the audience that Wanda's neighbor Agnes is not all who she seems to be. Fans have seized the opportunity to remix The Munsters-inspired song into everything from trap to rock. In a conversation with The New York Times, the Grammy and Oscar-winning original songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez shared their own enthusiasm for these remixes. Co-songwriter Anderson-Lopez spoke about Leland Philpot’s trap remix that featured the bass and brass staples of the genre:

There’s a trap version with a gentleman at his console, and he’s like, ‘I’m so tired, so tired,’ and then he presses play and the most glorious thing comes out.

Kristen Anderson-Lopez was quite enthused by the trap remix, and she wasn't the only one who's been impressed by the alternate versions of their song. Her husband and co-songwriter Robert Lopez saw Timmy Sean’s rock version, with added guitar and drum sounds, and had this to say:

My personal favorite was by a very gifted rock musician who created a version that was him playing all the instruments and singing all the parts, and he finished it by like two hours after the episode had aired, without any sheet music being available. It was incredible.

Those are not the only remixes of “Agatha All Along” going viral, either. There's a version from L’Orchestra Cinematique with over 100,000 plays on YouTube that transmutes the electronic harpsichord sound into traditional string and wind sounds. Another version with over 300,000 views is simply the song in piano keys.

The revealing “Agatha All Along” has also had another unintended run off: the Internet is giving Kathryn Hahn her flowers, finally. The actress, who plays Agatha Harkness in WandaVision, is known for playing supporting characters in most of her television series and movies. She has had running bits in everything from Transparent to Parks and Recreation to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but it culminated in her turn as Carla in Bad Moms.

Kathryn Hahn was trending on Twitter all last week, as WandaVision continued to play out on Disney+. Here's just one of the multitude of tweets heaped on Hahn:

In other words, “Agatha All Along” remixes are not the only viral trend on the internet when it comes to WandaVision. Real recognizes real, and the Internet sees you Kathryn Hahn. Tune in for the final episode of WandaVision on Disney+ on March 5.
