Cobra Kai Just Started Production On Season 4, But Netflix Has Already Announced Two New Cast Members

Cobra Kai Season 3 was a great way to kick off the new year and, as you would expect, fans are already craving another season. While it will likely be awhile before we see the further adventures of Daniel LaRusso, Johnny Lawrence and their karate students, we now know Season 4 has officially kicked off production. And with that major announcement, comes another bit of news, as Netflix has confirmed the show is adding two new cast members.

Netflix has confirmed that Cobra Kai Season 4 has added Dallas Dupree Young and Oona O’Brien in recurring roles. According to Variety, Young will play Kenny, a bullied kid who seeks out karate in an attempt to learn self-defense. Meanwhile, O’Brien will play a different kind of role through the character of Devon. The character is described as a potential karate student who is both studious and competitive -- but she also possesses a pretty quick temper.

On top of these new additions, Cobra Kai also made moves with some of its established stars. The streamer revealed that both Peyton List and Vanessa Rubio have been upgraded to series regulars for Season 4. List plays skilled yet hot-headed Cobra Kai student Tory Nichols, while Rubio plays Carmen Diaz, the sweet and concerned mother of Miguel Diaz. It’s great to see the two are being bumped up, and it’s honestly a bit surprising that it’s only just happening since they’ve played crucial roles on the show over the past few seasons.

Cobra Kai Season 3 marked a major turning point for the Karate Kid sequel series. By the end of the season, Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso resolved to join forces against John Kreese’s Cobra Kai. Season 4 will likely see both sides duke it out at the impending All-Valley Karate Tournament.

Ahead of the event though, it’s a safe bet that both dojos will be aiming to recruit new students, and this is where Dallas Dupree Young’s Kenny and Oona O’Brien’s Devon might come in. Such a development could be a great subplot for the season, especially when you consider how high the stakes will likely be moving forward. If this comes to pass, Kenny and Devon could end up being gamechangers.

The inclusion of the All-Valley Tournament is about all we know in the way of plot details when it comes to Cobra Kai Season 4. But never fear, because the producers have plans mapped out for the fourth season and beyond. So they're sure to have some major surprises in store for fans.

It’s always great to see new faces on Cobra Kai, especially fresh up-and-comers like Dallas Dupree Young and Oona O’Brien. They should help to shake things up in what’s primed to be an exciting season.

Ahead of Cobra Kai Season 4, you can binge the first three seasons on Netflix now.
