The Star Wars franchise has enthralled audiences for decades, and its showing no signs of slowing down. Since being acquired by Disney, Lucasfilm has been turning out exciting new installments, and now there's a focus on live-action TV shows. Season 2 of The Mandalorian set up the spinoff The Book of Boba Fett, which will finally give the titular iconic mercenary the spotlight. And I'm personally hoping another beloved character gets an appearance: Bossk.

Much like Boba Fett, Bossk's screen time in the original Star Wars trilogy was limited. He made a minor appearance in Empire Strikes Back, as one of the mercenaries hired by Vader to find Han, Chewie, and the Millennium Falcon. He's since been expanded thanks to the comics, animated series, and video games, but I'm ready for Bossk to finally get a meaty appearance in live-action. And hopefully rake up an impressive body count in the process.

Despite his limited screen time, Bossk's fearsome appearance made him an iconic character following Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. While he didn't return for Return of the Jedi, he's got a working relationship with Boba Fett that would be fascinating to see play out in The Book of Boba Fett. It would also give Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni the challenge of adapting the character in live-action, with the ability to speak.

Bossk's time in the Star Wars franchise, both animated and live-action, are currently available on Disney+. You can use this link to sign up for the streaming service.

Bossk is an iconic creature from Star Wars lore, but casual fans might not know his deeper connection to Boba Fett. While they worked together in Empire Strikes Back, the Clone Wars series greatly expanded their backstory. Bossk actually worked with a young Boba Fett, who was seeking revenge on Mace Windu for killing his father Jango during Attack of the Clones. Boba's history is sure to be addressed in the new series, and bringing back Bossk might be a great way to deliver this exposition.

As a reminder, you can check out Bossk's brief appearance in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back below.

Bossk also returned for yet another animated series: Star Wars Rebels, where he was an uneasy ally of young Jedi Ezra Bridger. This offered another chance for characters to get to know the infamous bounty hunter, and see him in action. Bossk is also a playable character in Star Wars Battlefront and its sequel (Bossk mains represent), as well as other games across the lore. He seems like a great choice to bring back to live-action for The Book of Boba Fett, but only time will tell.

Boba Fett's appearance in Season 2 of The Mandalorian was one of the many thrilling twists to come out of Disney+'s first live-action Star Wars series. The post-credits scene showed him returning to Tatooine, where he seemingly perished after falling into the Sarlacc pit. There are countless questions about the bounty hunter, and hopefully some of his colleagues pop up.

The Book of Boba Fett is expected to premiere this December. In the meantime, check out our midseason premiere list to plan your next binge watch.
