The CW Already Renewed Jared Padalecki's Walker Reboot For Season 2, And That's Not All

Everyone needs to be able to find some comfort right now, and one of the ways in which many of us are doing that is by watching a whole mess of TV shows. It always sucks beyond belief when one of your favorites gets cancelled and you realize you'll never get to watch the characters in any new adventures. So, the day should now be made for anyone who's a fan of series on The CW, as not only has Jared Padalecki's recently debuted Walker already been picked up for Season 2, but several other shows have been renewed, along with more good news.

If you've happened upon The CW in the past few years, you'll know that it's home to several dramatic and action-packed series, and many of them have developed dedicated fanbases. The network clearly has its metaphorical finger on the pulse of what a lot of people want, and now fans are being rewarded with the renewals of Walker, along with 11 (that's right, ELEVEN) of it's other shows. This means we'll be able to watch more of Jared Padalecki in a cowboy hat for the 2021-2022 television season, along with new seasons from All American, Roswell, New Mexico, Batwoman, Riverdale, Charmed, Nancy Drew, Legends of Tomorrow, Legacies, Dynasty, In the Dark, and The Flash.

While this is already great news for anyone who loves to watch things like superheroes saving the day, witches combining their powers, or cat fights between well-dressed rich people, it turns out that there is even more good news. Walker, which is only in its third week, has now been granted an additional five episodes for its freshman season, to up the total Season 1 episode count to 18. In addition, remember how I mentioned superhero saves above? Well, Superman & Lois, which is set to premiere its first season on February 23 with a 90 minute debut, has been granted two more episodes, which will take its Season 1 installments to 15.

The CW's chairman and CEO, Mark Pedowitz, announced the news and noted the network's desire to "get a strategic head start on next season." He also noted how impressed they've been with what they've seen from both Superman & Lois and Walker, as well as where each show is planning to go in their respective first seasons. While we still have a few weeks to wait to see if the latest Arrowverse (you will not convince me to call it anything else) entry will also have super ratings in Season 1, Jared Padalecki's quick trip from Supernatural to Walker has meant good news, as it debuted as the network's most watched series premiere in five years.

Speaking of the Arrowverse, if you've been lamenting the absence of flagship series Arrow and /or the similarly planned demises of Supergirl, Black Lightning and this season's mega crossover, you can now look forward to a slightly longer Superman & Lois season, as well as new episodes coming along next season for Batwoman (Season 3), Legends of Tomorrow (Season 7), and The Flash (Season 8). And, everyone who discovered All American on Netflix during the long quarantine and is now watching as it airs, can count on Season 4 coming along during The CW's 2021-2022 season.
