Meghan McCain's Return To The View Was Marked By A Spat With Joy Behar

Joy Behar and Meghan McCain on The View

One of the reasons people tune in for The View is that the long-running talk show features hosts with strong, differing opinions. This frequently leads to clashes between the personalities, with some discussions becoming more “lively” than others. The two pundits who arguably go at it the most are Joy Behar and Meghan McCain, who stand on two sides of the political and social spectrum. For the past three months, Meghan McCain has been out on maternity leave, and she rejoined her colleagues this past Monday. But her return was ultimately marked by another spat with Behar.

While discussing hot topics on the show (via Youtube), The View’s Whoopi Goldberg posed the question of whether or not there should only be two major political parties in the U.S, based on the notion that each party has its own subgroups. Joy Behar was the first to chime in, stating her belief that there is division within the Republican party. Shortly after, Meghan McCain responded to Behar’s sentiments by noting that she thinks there is infighting within the Democratic party. This led to an exchange between the two that got a bit “nasty”:

McCain: You missed me so much, Joy. You missed me so much when I was on maternity leave. You missed fighting with me.Behar: I did not. I did not miss you. Zero.McCain: That’s so nasty. That’s so rude.

It definitely didn’t take long for Joy Behar and Meghan McCain to become reacquainted with each other. McCain appeared to be poking fun, but she was not prepared for Behar’s very honest response. Well, at least they’re getting right back into the swing of things… right?

Over the years, plenty of The View’s hosts have gone viral due to heated disagreements on the show. Meghan McCain, in particular, has found herself at odds with a number of her co-hosts. One such incident saw her and Whoopi Goldberg argue, which turned into arguably one of the most cringe-worthy moments of the show’s run.

Despite the on-air disagreements, Goldberg has previously downplayed any true fighting on the show. She acknowledged that things can get a bit heated but contends that at the end of the day, she and her colleagues are simply doing their jobs by expressing their opinions. And there don’t appear to be too many hard feelings off camera. Not too long ago, McCain even took to social media to express admiration for Goldberg, despite the fact that they don’t always see eye to eye.

Spirited debate is just a natural part of The View at this point, and it likely won’t be going away, especially when it comes to Joy Behar and Meghan McCain. We’ll see if anything else flairs up between the two during the remainder of McCain’s first week back at work.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
