Hallmark's Candace Cameron Bure Claps Back At Commenters, Reveals She Hasn't Attended Brother Kirk Cameron's Maskless Protests

It’s the time of year where Candace Cameron Bure is everywhere, thanks to her popular gig as the spokesperson of Hallmark’s holiday movies season. This year she had a really cute green coat for the ads and starred in If I Only Had Christmas for the channel all while practicing social distancing in “pods” in order to be able to keep working. Meanwhile, her brother Kirk Cameron threw a maskless caroling event in California as a form of protest. Now, Bure has touched on her stance, as well as how she feels about people commenting on the matter.

News broke this week that Kirk Cameron, known for Growing Pains and religious-oriented films such as Left Behind, has been organizing “Christmas caroling peaceful protest” in which he and about a hundred others gathered to celebrate their “constitutional rights” and “God-given liberties” in Southern California. This is according to what Cameron said on social media ahead of the protest, which occurred earlier this week. The protest caroling event occurred outside the Thousand Oaks Mall in Ventura County, where people are currently under a stay-at-home order.

Obviously, people have had a lot of thoughts on the matter online, and Candace Cameron Bure has not been immune to the criticism of her brother Kirk Cameron and other members of her family. So, she took to Twitter to share her own thoughts on the matter, noting,

I did not attend any recent caroling events. Also, I choose to follow the greater guidelines by wearing a mask and social distance when I’m in public. However, I don’t appreciate the vile tweets about my family. I believe respectful dialogue is the key to being heard. Stay safe.

It’s not unlike Candace Cameron Bure to speak her mind. She did something similar when the Internet called her out after he husband playfully touched her boob in a post earlier this year. However, it is worth pointing out that she, in particular, has been a celebrity that has been social distancing and following guidelines on sets a lot more often than many of her acting counterparts this year.

As part of her work with Hallmark, mask-wearing and social distancing has been a really important function of keeping productions moving. In fact, Hallmark movies were kind of a litmus test for movie productions earlier in the pandemic as they were some of the first productions to go back to work. They did this by requiring mask-wearing and also requiring those going onto sets to quarantine for 14 days, as documented by stars like Ryan Paevey earlier this year.

Furthermore, teams worked in “pods” to make sure the sets of the TV movies were as safe as possible. While we’ve seen Candace Cameron Bure spending some time with her Aurora Teagarden co-stars without masks, if she wasn’t quarantining with those people while filming, the productions likely wouldn’t be able to move forward.

Earlier this week, Candace Cameron Bure announced she would be taking her “annual social media” break to spend time with her family over the holidays. However, with the brouhaha surrounding her brother’s decisions, she ultimately decided to comment on the matter.
