Kelly Clarkson Just Got Some Great News From NBC About Her Talk Show

kelly clarkson show nbc renewal 2 more seasons

Kelly Clarkson has had a rough year personally. She filed for divorce from ex Brandon Blackstock and is being sued by her management company. However, it hasn’t been all bad news. The American Idol alum has been coaching singers on NBC’s The Voice and she briefly filled in for Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent following a back injury that put him out of commission for a while, not to mention her Emmy win. Recently, Clarkson received some pretty fantastic news about The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The Kelly Clarkson Show, which debuted last year on NBC, has been renewed by the network. NBC execs have so much confidence in Kelly Clarkson’s talk show that they’ve renewed the series for two more seasons, taking it all the way through to 2023. In a statement, Executive Vice President of NBCUniversal’s Syndication Studios Tracie Wilson had nothing but good things to say about the talk show. Here’s what Wilson said:

One ray of sunshine in this wildly unpredictable year is that we get to continue to deliver to stations and fans a show that brings people together. This wouldn’t be possible without the heart and humor of the talented and dedicated Kelly Clarkson and our production team, led by the incomparable Alex Duda, both of whom are masters of storytelling. It’s easy to see why Emmy voters, critics and viewers have become such loyal fans of the show.

This brings the talk show to a grand total of four seasons, which is impressive considering that it’s still relatively new and that has a lot of daytime competition. In addition to being renewed for two more seasons, The Kelly Clarkson Show’s third and fourth seasons will be available in syndication to 75% of broadcast stations in the country.

There were some questions surrounding the talk show when it first premiered. Namely, whether or not Kelly Clarkson could carry the series as its host. However, The Kelly Clarkson Show has built an audience for itself and the ratings have been pretty good, with the talk show bringing in about 1.9 million viewers per episode in October of 2019. One year later and the series is still averaging 1.6 million viewers a day. Not too shabby.

Kelly Clarkson continues to pull double duty by hosting her talk show while being a coach on The Voice. Behind-the-scenes, Clarkson is working through some legal battles with her ex-husband and her management company, Starstruck Management. Her divorce is proving to be a complicated one, with Brandon Blackstock asking for spousal and child support. However, a judge recently granted Clarkson primary custody of her children, with weekend visits to their father at his ranch in Montana.

The Kelly Clarkson Show airs weekdays in syndication, so be sure to check your local listings for airtimes. The talk show is also available to watch for free on NBC’s website.
