Why Did 90 Day Fiance's Brittany And Yazan Wait This Long To Bring In A Translator?

Yazan 90 Dady Fiance: The Other Way TLC

Warning! The following contains spoilers for the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way episode "The Cost Of Love." Read at your own risk!

It's not often 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way shows one of its couples making a totally sound and rational decision, so when it happens, celebrations should ensue. Such was the case in the latest episode when, after months of not being on the same page, Yazan Abo Horira and Brittany Banks finally decided to bring in a translator who was fluent in both English and Arabic. His arrival led to a sensible and logical conversation between the two, which had me wondering why it took so very, very long for this to happen.

First, many hats off to Brittany's translator for explaining both parties' thoughts and feelings so accurately and non-patronizingly. It seemed like Brittany finally understood the sacrifices Yazan has made to keep her in his life, and Brittany was able to effectively make it known to him that she's not entirely sure she's willing to commit to their relationship. To think so many fights could have been avoided had this no-brainer decision happened so much sooner, and both could've spent more time hanging out in Jordan rather than just arguing.

Unfortunately, Yazan still wasn't entirely forthcoming with all the risks involved in his relationship with and Brittany Banks, though he probably should have been. Luckily, Brittany met up with his brother Obaida, who related the gravity of the situation quite clearly. Yazan's relationship with Brittany had put his life in danger, and if something was not done to remedy things, people are out there who may harm or kill him for it.

That news floored Brittany Banks, as it should have, and she immediately asked Yazan's brother if her converting to Islam would fix the issue. Obaida delivered an emphatic "No," which was then explained by the translator that further drove it home to Brittany that this was not a game.

Brittany finally appeared to fully grasp just how real the situation was, and what she would be taking on if she pursued her courtship with Yazan to the fullest extent. I don't want to speculate too much on how she felt, but the look on her face seemed to say it wasn't exactly what she signed up for.

Sadly, it doesn't seem like this compassion for Yazan Abo Horira's situation lasted all that long. As 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans may be aware, Brittany has been posting a lot about Yazan on social media, but those posts wouldn't exactly be appreciated by those who adhere to strict Muslim lifestyles. Hopefully, her intention isn't to try to put him in harm's way again, but whatever the case is, these posts don't seem to be the sort of messages that would fly for someone in a loving relationship. If only that translator could mediate over social media!

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs on TLC Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for all the latest happening in the franchise, and for more news happening in television and movies.
