Stranger Things Season 4 Just Cast Freddy Krueger Actor Robert Englund And More

Eleven and her friends in Stranger Things 3

This year has been an unprecedented one for the film and TV world, as countless projects have been pushed back when sets around the world were shut down. Season 4 of Netflix's Stranger Things was one project that fans will have to wait a bit longer for, although work is clearly being done on new episodes. This can be seen through the latest casting announcements, which revealed that Freddy Krueger icon Robert Englund and more will be joining the beloved sci-fi streamer.

Stranger Things has made actors like Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour into household names, and some strong talent has joined Hawkins throughout the years. Season 4 will continue this trend by welcoming a slew of newcomers, including both series regulars and guest stars. For instance, A Nightmare on Elm Street actor Robert Englund is joining Stranger Things in a guest actor capacity as Victor Creel, who is described as a disturbed man serving time in a psychiatric hospital after committing murder decades ago. Clearly his work as beloved horror villain Freddy Krueger will lend itself well to the role, and fans of the genre will be thrilled to see his inclusion.

Robert Englund as Freddy

Aside from Robert Englund, a variety of other names have also been added to the cast of Stranger Things for the upcoming fourth season. Three new series regulars have been added, including actor Eduardo Franco who is known for comedic roles in Booksmart and The Binge. He'll be joined by fellow series regulars Jamie Campbell Bower (Twilight, Sweeney Todd) and Joseph Quinn (Game of Thrones). They'll all clearly have major roles to play in Season 4, playing an orderly, Jonathan's best friend, and the head of Hawkins High's D&D club respectively.

Clearly the Stranger Things execs went for some familiar faces to help round out the cast for Season 4, with many of the new actors having experience with genre work. Game of Thrones' very own Jaqen H'ghar Thomas Wlaschiha will also be guest starring in the new season, playing a Russian guard who befriends Hopper. Other guest stars include Sherman Augustus (Into the Badlands) Mason Dye, and Nikola Djuricko.

Stranger Things 4's contents are a complete mystery at this point, as Netflix usually likes to keep the contents of the flagship science fiction series under wraps. But narratively there are a ton of places to go, especially following the wild Season 3 finale. Fans are most eager to see what happened to David Harbor's Hopper, who seemingly perished before being revealed as a Russian prisoner.

There's also a ton of narrative threads to pull from other characters, most notably Eleven. Millie Bobby Brown's character seemingly lost her psychic powers at the end of the season, after overexerting herself fighting off the Mindflayer. And with the group thinking that Hopper died, she was adopted by Joyce as she moved her family away from Hawkins and the countless traumas they faced as a result of the town's labs.

Stranger Things' fourth season is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2021. In the meantime, check out our midseason premiere list to plan your next binge watch.
