90 Day Fiancé couple Paul and Karine Staehle have had a rather rough 2020 but, as of late, it seems like the couple has once again mended the bridge and are officially back together. Of course, the high profile and shocking drama between the two of them can't be ignored, and fans wondered if TLC would continue to have them on the show.
While there hasn't been any official word on what would happen, Paul recently took to Instagram and said the two "probably won't" be filming. In a lengthy update on the family's life posted to Instagram stories, Paul gave a rundown of everything happening in his life at the moment and why fans may be responsible for why the couple may not return to 90 Day Fiancé:
The false allegations against me were withdrawn. We are currently in Brazil. Karine's green card was stolen and the embassy is closed due to COVID-19 so we will be here indefinitely until we can get her a Boarding Foil, hopefully before her green card expires. Karine is pregnant with our next son Ethan Martins Staehle who will be born in February. My dogs are finishing up intensive training at The Pampered Pup. Karine inherited a farm in Tonantins, we will hopefully be able to start growing something and make it a working farm. We are hoping my mother will come see the farm and Karine's family in Tonantins on her next Brazil visit. Karine's family has been a god send and been helping me with Karine. Karine is very happy to be back in Brazil with her family for the time being. It is highly likely Ethan will be born in Brazil. Most of my income comes from the internet while I am in Brazil. Because of the overwhelming negative impact of fans taking it upon themselves to pick Karine up and then make very serious false allegations in her name acting as her translator and keeping her in their home until another Brazilian she knew from a church group rescued her and got her to our house. We will probably no longer be filming.
According to Paul Staehle, it was a fan or fans of 90 Day Fiancé that picked up Karine Staehle in the time where he reported her missing. Paul also alleged that these people acted as her translator and gave false testimony in reports that alleged he had raped and abused Karine during their time together. At the time that news first came out, Paul did state he could not believe Karine would allege such things and wondered if someone was speaking on her behalf.
Is this the end of 90 Day Fiancé for Paul and Karine Staehle? It sounds like a future for them on the show is not an impossibility and that the couple was not fired from their contract. Paul clarified the statement after speculation from those who saw the first message and laid out the situation for their future with the franchise:
We were not fired or reprimanded. We were given time to deal with our family matters privately. Our payments and income was [sic] not affected. TLC and Sharp have both been very considerate to our situation. We highly appreciate them giving us time to deal with our private matters off camera. We are hopeful and eager to possibly return in the future in a more positive time in our growing families [sic] lives. Our contract was fulfilled and completed. We will be posting some positive highlights on our social media and YouTube. Karine is refraining from social media because of the extreme negativity. Financially we are fine as I am still successfully independently paying everything.
Based on all that was written, Paul and Karine's contract was allegedly fulfilled with the conclusion of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. That means there would be no reason for TLC the fire the couple if there was no contract they were on the line for. Paul Staehle appeared to hint that the couple may be willing to return to the franchise in the future but, for now, anyone interested will have to follow them on social media and YouTube.
One interesting bit of information was that Paul Staehle allegedly has a sustainable form of income, something he always struggled with during 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Paul mentioned in the earlier statement that most of his income currently comes from work he does on the internet. Currently, Paul and Karine are one of the many 90 Day Fiancé castmembers up on Cameo, which they charge $100 for a video. With 495 reviews, that sounds like it could be a lucrative endeavor and could last them a while in Brazil while they wait to return to America.
As for what all this means for 90 Day Fiancé, Paul Staehle makes it sound like the door is still very much open for them to return to TLC should they choose to do so. If that's true, then the couple caught a luckier break than others like Larissa Dos Santos Lima, who was cut from the franchise shortly after performing in a cam show for an adult website. More recently, Deavan Clegg said she and Jihoon Lee were cut from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way's tell-all special, so it's somewhat surprising to hear the couple who went through some of the most headline-grabbing drama may still return.
Finally, it should be noted that Paul Staehle is the sole source of this update. Without comment from TLC, it's always tough to say what is and isn't true when a castmember takes to social media to talk about the series. In either case, it seems fans will have to wait in either circumstance to see if Paul and Karine Staehle will return to 90 Day Fiancé in the future.
