Space Force’s Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers And More Cast Members React To The Show’s Season 2 Renewal

The cast of Netflix's Space Force (2020)

Fans of Netflix’s Space Force have a lot to celebrate, as the show has officially been renewed for Season 2 by the streamer. The Steve Carell-led sci-fi series managed to earn the much-sought-after second season, which has become somewhat difficult for many of Netflix’s recent freshman shows to get. While viewers are likely excited about the renewal, the stars of the show also seemed to be excited. Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers and some of their colleagues have taken to social media to mark the occasion.

Ben Schwartz, who plays Space Force social media director F. Tony Scarapiducci, posted his reaction to the show’s renewal with a short but completely on-brand response to the renewal. Check it out below:

Space Force star Diana Silvers also took to social media to chime in on the renewal, and it sounds like she’s more than ready for some more space shenanigans with her castmates. And who could blame her, with Steve Carell playing her father:

Schwartz and Silvers were joined in celebrating the achievement by Tawny Newsome, who plays trailblazing astronaut Angela Ali on the show. And like Schwartz, she provided a brief message:

Space Force’s own Jimmy O. Yang (a.k.a. Dr. Chan Kaifang) voiced his excitement about the new season on Instagram. In his post, not only did he hype up the news, but he also delivered some exciting news about the upcoming set of episodes:

So it looks like Jimmy O. Yang is about to take on a major role behind the camera for Space Force Season 2, as he’ll also serve as a writer this time around. You can’t help but be excited for him, and it’ll be fun to see what he brings to the show with his voice.

When Space Force first debuted, the show was met with relatively mixed reviews, though the series has since managed to build a loyal fanbase. During its journey to secure a second season, the show also had to deal with an unexpected issue when the U.S. Government took issue with the show having trademarked the name Space Force. This all came around the same time that the U.S. was about to do the same for its own Space Force.

Even though the show has only just now been renewed for Season 2, stars like Ben Schwartz have already been quite vocal about what they want for their characters moving forward. He wants his “grounded” Scarapiducci to continue to grow and hopes to further differentiate him from his Parks and Rec character, Jean-Ralphio Saperstein.

It’s far too early to tell what’s being planned for the second season of Space Force, but there’s a good chance the producers have some big things planned for these characters. We’ll see how things pan out when the season arrives.

Space Force is currently available to stream on Netflix.
