Spoilers below for the latest episode of The Mandalorian, titled "The Heiress."
For Star Wars fans who didn't think The Mandalorian had loaded up enough franchise easter eggs already in Season 2, Episode 3 arrived to take things up a notch or twelve with the introduction of Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze, the human-Mandalorian hero that Sackhoff voiced for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Ahead of Friday morning's episode debut, Sackhoff's casting had never exactly been fully confirmed by either Disney's or Star Wars' camps, but the Battlestar Galactica vet was very likely teasing fans on social media about Bo-Katan's arrival ahead of the episode's debut.
Considering last week's Mandalorian episode left many viewers with a weird taste in their mouths – what with Baby Yoda's appetite suddenly going haywire on some Frog Lady eggs – it wasn't clear at all that the ice-spider adventure would be followed up with a live-action franchise debut as huge as Bo-Katan's. But anyone who was paying close attention to Katee Sackhoff's Twitter likely had an inkling that something major was coming. Here's her purposefully vague message that still says everything it needs to:
To the trained eye, Katee Sackhoff's tweet was clearly-ish a rallying cry for the release of the newest Mandalorian episode, one in which she happened to kick a lot of ass as Bo-Katan's crew made Mando look like a sidekick at times. (Don't tell him I said that.) But to those who weren't specifically attuned to all things Star Wars-y, Sackhoff's message possibly just looked like a weekend warrior waiting for the drudgery of the work week to be finished.
In fact, Katee Sackhoff even tried throwing fans off the trail with a tweet explanation for why she was growing impatient about Friday's arrival. In her words:
I wouldn't be too surprised to learn that Katee Sackhoff will be taking eight different mixed drinks to the dome on Friday as a way of celebrating Bo-Katan's debut on The Mandalorian. The actress was already a sci-fi icon for her portrayal of Battlestar Galactica's Starbuck, and she built up on that reputation with her recurring roles on The Flash and in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. But now that she's currently a big part of the live-action Star Wars universe, Sackhoff's legacy will only grow larger. Now let's get her and Ahsoka Tano in the same scene together soon, shall we?
To be fair, Katee Sackhoff has been getting Star Wars fans excited on the down low for weeks now. She seemed to be keen on rumors that Bo-Katan and Gina Carano's Cara Dune would be fronting their own spinoff series. Those rumors are unsubstantiated, and are likely even less believable now that the Boba Fett spinoff rumors have taken hold. But if the reactions to Sackhoff's Bo-Katan remain as strong as they have been so far, Disney and Lucasfilm might very well give the character her own series. So say we a...er...this is The Way.
