We’re heading into the holiday season at what feels like an alarming clip (if you’re like me, anyway), and one thing everyone is trying to figure out is how to make the coming celebrations special under current conditions. While it’s certainly unexpected, The Masked Singer is actually here to help us celebrate Thanksgiving with a special episode, and now we know something about the treats that are in store for those who tune in.

With the holiday right around the corner, those behind The Masked Singer are showing that they know how much the wacky singing competition means to fans. As such a welcome part of millions of viewers’ lives, Variety reports that they’re giving us a special episode on Thanksgiving night (Thursday, November 26), which will feature the return of guest panelist Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live, Bad Hair).

The Masked Singer has continued to have great success in Season 4, as this installment has helped to give viewers a much needed break from the ridiculous number of stressors weighing many of us down recently, and it’s no doubt that that a special Thanksgiving night episode will be great to watch, whether you’re able to surround yourself with family for the occasion or not.

The producers certainly knew what they were doing when they enlisted the help of Jay Pharoah to come back as a guest panelist, as well. The comedian and actor is well-known for his uncanny impressions, especially of celebrities that usually aren’t mimicked by others. He last appeared on the show earlier this year, in a mid-May Season 3 episode, and blew everyone away with his impressions of Will Smith and Jay-Z. So, it’s likely that Pharoah will be game to show off some of the other celebrity impersonations he’s known for during the taping, such as Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Drake, and Morgan Freeman.

While it sounds like the Thanksgiving episode will definitely help bring some laughs and great non-football entertainment into homes, The Masked Singer also has some other surprises coming up as the show gets ever closer to choosing the winner of the golden mask trophy for Season 4. Fans can expect additional appearances from guest panelists, with Niecy Nash (Claws, Reno 911!) stepping in on November 11, Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm, I Can See Your Voice) joining the fun on November 18, and Craig Robinson (The Office, The Masked Dancer) coming on for the December 2 episode, which will be a super six show and feature three contestant reveals to help lead the show into the finale.

Luckily for fans, all of this adds up to even more good times to look forward to as The Masked Singer keeps us going into winter, and the Thanksgiving episode sounds like it’s sure to help perk up anyone who ends up not feeling the holiday spirit as much as they usually do this time of year.

The Masked Singer airs every Wednesday on Fox, at 8 p.m. EST, but for more to watch in the coming weeks and months, be sure to check out our guide to fall TV and see what’s coming up for winter / spring 2021!
