Eve on The Talk (2020)

CBS’ The Talk, is no stranger to talent shake-ups. Just a few months ago, the fan-favorite daytime talk show lost co-host Marie Osmond, who originally replaced co-host and creator Sara Gilbert. She left the show last year to focus on her work on ABC’s The Conners. Just this week, it was announced that Eve will now be leaving the show after four seasons, and the TV personality has explained the reason for the massive move.

Eve has been filming The Talk remotely from her home in London since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s been difficult for her to travel to the states to film in the studio. With this, she explained (via Deadline) that she’ll be stepping down from her post as a host in December:

It’s been a crazy year, obviously for all of us. And I’m so grateful that I’m able to stay here in London and do the show, but I can’t see for me, the foreseeable future of traveling back at the moment, and have decided that at the end of December, this will probably be my last time on the show, in this capacity as a host.

Just recently, the UK imposed another COVID-19-related lockdown, making it even harder for Eve to actually be in the studio. She confirmed that this influenced her decision to leave The Talk, though the star also said she plans to focus on her family:

We’re on another lockdown from Thursday, and that’s another reason, obviously staying home has been such a blessing because my husband and I got to know each other in a different way, a beautiful way. So I want to be closer to him. I want to concentrate on expanding our family, being with my family.

Eve went on to thank her co-hosts – Sharon Osborne, Sheryl Underwood and Carrie Ann Inaba – and reflected on her “beautiful” experience working with them:

I have had the most beautiful experience. I’ve grown as a woman, as a person. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, I never thought that being on a talk show would be this much of an opening of my spirit, soul, personality, everything. Sitting on stage with all you women has been the best thing ever. I truly love you.

At this point in time, a replacement for Eve has not been announced. The Talk has had a revolving door of hosts over the past few years, to say the least. Aside from Marie Osmond and Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen departed in 2018 following the controversy surrounding her husband, Les Moonves. And in 2017, Aisha Tyler also left the show due to her commitment to various other projects.

While many are likely sad to see Eve leave, it sounds like she’s made a decision that she believes is best for the well-being of her and her family. It’s also nice to hear that she’ll cherish her time working on The Talk.
