Home Improvement's Zachery Ty Bryan Released From Jail For Strangulation Charge, Deletes Divorce Announcement

Over the weekend, it was reported that Home Improvement alum Zachery Ty Bryan had been arrested in Eugene, Oregon. The 39-year-old former sitcom star was taken into custody on Friday after allegedly strangling his girlfriend. The exact charges against the actor include 4th degree assault, strangulation and interfering with making a report. Now, it’s been reported that Bryan has been released from jail and that he’s also taken down a previous divorce announcement from his social media account.

Zachery Ty Bryan was reportedly released from Lane County Jail this past Saturday night on $8,500 cash bail, according to TMZ. The site also reports that Bryan has also been issued a no-contact order, meaning he’ll be required by law to avoid any kind of contact with the alleged victim.

The original altercation took place late Friday night, during which neighbors called for help after a conflict in an apartment complex. When the authorities arrived, they reportedly found Bryan sitting outside the apartment unit while his 27-year-old girlfriend was said to be hiding at a friend’s home nearby.

Authorities say that the victim claimed Bryan put his hands around her throat and squeezed after an argument became physical. The police also say the actor took the women’s phone away when she tried to call 911, though she reportedly managed to escape afterwards. Bryan was ultimately taken into custody without incident.

Aside from his most recent situation, earlier in the month, Zachery Ty Bryan posted a message to social media in regard to his marital status. In the post, the actor announced that he and his wife of 14 years, Carly Matros, were divorcing. He referred to them as having been “friends, soulmates, partners and then parents” and asked fans for privacy during the proceedings.

However, a few people took notice of the message and found it be plagiarized from a social media message released by actor Armie Hammer. This past summer, Hammer and his wife, Elizabeth Chambers, announced that they would be divorcing, and Zachery Ty Bryan’s message bore a strong resemblance to Hammer's. Around the time people across the internet began chatting about the message, Bryan deleted his own announcement.

Zachery Ty Bryan and Carly Matros have been together since high school and have four children together. Following the deletion of Bryan’s Instagram post, it’s unclear as to where their relationship stands. At this time, it isn’t believed that Matros had any role in this alleged instance of domestic violence between Bryan and his partner.

As of right now, the district attorney is still deciding whether or not to charge Zachery Ty Bryan, but he is still set to be appear in court this coming Friday. There have currently been no new statements from Bryan’s legal team on the matter.
