If you are still bummed about yesterday's unleashing of the news that Last Man Standing would be ending for the second time, there is a slight silver lining. Tim Allen has revealed his feelings after news of the ninth and final season dropped. Allen is familiar with the sad scenario. The upcoming conclusion of Last Man Standing marks the second time that Allen has said goodbye to a long-running sitcom--third if you count the first time Last Man Standing was cancelled.

Prior to that, back in 1999 Home Improvement came to an end after eight seasons. A little over twenty years later comes the news that Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing will be officially ending with Season 9. Allen took to Twitter to express his feelings on the emotional news, which means saying goodbye to the Baxters and their friends. Here is what Allen had to say:

You read that correctly. Tim Allen’s comment reveals that filming was underway as the news broke. Fans will recall that the coronavirus pandemic caused last season to conclude one episode short of its initial duration. Elsewhere in the tweet, Allen promises that fans will love what Last Man Standing has in store for its final season. As a viewer, I am hopeful heading into it.

Last Man Standing left off with the impending arrival of Kristin and Ryan’s daughter. Kristin was still in labor, and Eve was in town as the season closed out. Meanwhile, Mandy and Kyle had recently announced they were expecting their first child. Season 9 could see two new Baxter babies! Hopefully, Kaitlyn Dever can return for the premiere. While Tim Allen did not say either way, he did share a second post about the show saying goodbye.

OK, I'm not crying, you're crying. Yes, I know that Last Man Standing’s final season will come after nine seasons and a network revival; it's been an incredible run overall. I just can't help already missing the show and thinking it is too soon to say goodbye. Last Man Standing will have had just three seasons on FOX when it ends. It feels like just yesterday that the show made its debut on the network after being revitalized following its ABC run.

Tim Allen himself had acknowledged being impressed with the show coming up with so many stories through the years. I know that all good things have to come to an end, but I am not ready for this one. Call me greedy! Otherwise, join me in checking out what Allen had to saying in the official announcement form the network, which was also emotional.

I’ve been one lucky dude to have been part of Last Man Standing. I so appreciate the incredible support from our fans over this near decade of work. As we approach the ninth season, I just admire and feel grateful for all the hard work our wonderful cast and crew have done. We had all considered to end the show after last season, but together with FOX, we decided to add a year so we could produce a full season to create the gentle and fun goodbye. I'm looking forward to a memorable and hilarious final season.

At least, fans got one more season than was originally planned, which is something fans can be grateful for. Time will tell if Tim Allen gets his wish for Dirty Jobs’ Mike Rowe to reprise his role as Mike’s brother, Jimmy. A reunion between the brothers would be a nice way to end things. One plotline is more certain, which is that Last Man Standing plans to show the repercussions of the coronavirus lockdown.

Here's hoping that Outdoor Man and Bud’s Buds did not get too terribly impacted by the aftermath and more. Last Man Standing’s ninth and final season will kick off after this fall’s premieres, but not until January 2020 on FOX.
