Why 90 Day Fiance's Charlie And Jenn May Actually Be Mad About Libby's Moldovan Wedding

The first part of the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? tell-all was more of a recap than an update for what has happened since the season ended, and not a lot of answers were given to inquiring fans. That's not to say that the special was completely devoid of any previously unknown information, however, as an interesting nugget surfaced from perhaps the greatest scene in Season 5: Charlie Potthast's drunken Moldovan wedding speech.

Charlie Potthast caught all kinds of hell online for embarrassing his sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Castravet, and husband Andrei Castravet, but sister Jenn Potthast revealed there was a reason for him to be angry. When talking about the wedding and all its extravagance, Jenn revealed one key detail about the Moldovan wedding that called out their father, Chuck Potthast, for his contributions to the weddings of his other 6 children.

You paid for three. Paid for Becky, he paid for Libby’s first one, and he paid for their third [sic] one. Charlie, did he pay for your wedding? No? He didn’t pay for mine either. So, bye.

Jenn Potthast alleged that Chuck Potthast paid for the wedding of one of his other daughters, and gave money to two of Andrei and Libby's weddings (despite her incorrect statement about there being a third wedding). Given the context of that information, and the fact that Chuck Potthast is portrayed as financially well off, one may see why there was some jealousy in Charlie's inebriated rant at Libby and Andrei Castravet's ritzy Moldovan wedding.

What's even more interesting is that Libby jumped in on the conversation, and claimed that Chuck Potthast did not contribute a lot to her first wedding. Libby revealed a bulk of the wedding was paid for by Andrei, using savings he had accumulated back when he was working over in Ireland. It was an interesting bit to add, especially considering 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? has pushed storylines that Andrei is lazy and unmotivated to work.

Overall though, the statement does seem to give some context to the tension between Libby Castravet and her family. Sure, the tension between her family and Andrei is palpable, but there seems to be some underlying sibling resentment that Libby and Andrei are so well taken care of. Libby is employed by her father in his business and got a wedding overseas after all, so it's understandable that other siblings may be wondering why she got that treatment for her wedding when they didn't.

Do you think that the Potthast family is right to be mad at Chuck Potthast for footing the bill for Andrei and Libby Castravet's Moldovan wedding?
