Looks Like Stranger Things Season 4 Finally Has A Production Restart Date

The cast of Stranger Things Season 3

Of all the TV shows that were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one that fans are probably most eager to see make its return is Stranger Things. The fourth season of the hit Netflix show originally began filming back in February before production was shut down in early March. As a result, it’s been unclear as to when the show will start filming again, and Season 4’s release date is currently up in the air as well. Now, it looks like Netflix has finally set a date for the show to get up and rolling again.

Stranger Things Season 4 will reportedly head back into production in Atlanta on September 28. However, per Deadline, this date is still subject to change due to the ongoing global health crisis. As of right now, Netflix has not commented on the matter.

The pandemic forced Netflix to cease production on a number of its biggest shows and, in some cases, the streamer actually had to cancel shows that had already been renewed for new seasons. This was mostly the result of unexpected budget increases due to COVID-19 safety measures.

Despite having been delayed, progress has been made on the new season of Stranger Things. For instance, the entire season has been written, as revealed by a social media post from the writers’ room. Series star Natalia Dyer previously expressed praise for the changes in the show’s workflow.

Of course, the show’s untimely delay still came as a bit of a letdown for some of the cast and crew. Finn Wolfhard was particularly disappointed about the news, as he and his colleagues were actually ahead of schedule before things shut down. Given the situation, one can definitely sympathize with his desire to return to the set and reunite with his co-stars.

Joe Keery, on the other hand, seemed be looking at the delay in a more positive light. The actor previously mentioned that it would give the Duffer Brothers more time to refine their vision for the new season and finish writing. So it would seem that Keery was correct in at least one respect.

We don’t know too much about Stranger Things Season 4 but, based on what we’ve heard and seen so far, it’s shaping up to be something special. Although the producers haven’t shed much light on what’s going on in Hawkins at this point, they’ve revealed that we’ll see the return of Jim Hopper, who’s currently a prisoner in Russia. David Harbour teased that we’ll learn more about his fan-favorite character and has also compared the season to Indiana Jones.

The wait for Stranger Things’ return is only getting harder at this point, but we seem to be getting closer to a new date. We’ll be watching its production schedule closely, so be sure to stay tuned to CinemaBlend for updates, as well as more news from the world of TV and movies.
