Marvel's She-Hulk Has Apparently Cast Its Lead Heroine For Disney+ TV Show

For the longest time, the fate of Marvel’s She-Hulk series on Disney+ seemed to be in question. But as of a couple days ago, we learned that the show had landed its first director with TV helmer Kat Coiro signing on to direct the pilot and several episodes. Brace yourselves, as the biggest move so far has been made in terms of pushing the adventures of Jennifer Walters into the streaming world, as the one and only Tatiana Maslany has been cast in the series’ lead role.

Coming off of a recurring stint on HBO’s Perry Mason reboot, and best known as the batch of clones that made Orphan Black a hit for BBC America, Tatiana Maslany’s casting has just been announced by Deadline. Should everything line up, this could be Tatiana Maslany’s first long-term TV gig since her Emmy-winning turn on the show that first put her on the map. In a race that had tipped everyone from Community alum Alison Brie to The Mandolorian co-star Gina Carano for the lead in She-Hulk, this announcement comes as a surprise; but a very pleasant one at that.

The Marvel contingent on Disney+ has continued to generate some pretty exciting news, with WandaVision recently confirmed as landing on the platform in 2020, as previously planned. Now, with Tatiana Maslany landing the lead role in She-Hulk, the excitement is only going to continue to grow among fans of the character and the actress. Not to mention, the various providers of fan art for Jennifer Walters’ various would-be incarnations will now have yet another opportunity to show the world what this future superhero could look like.

What’s most exciting about this new She-Hulk news is the fact that, in the fine tradition of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a major acting talent has been brought into the fold yet again. With her performance chops honed throughout theater, movies, and television, Tatiana Maslany is yet another move of casting dominance from Disney and Marvel. Even better, one can assume that not only could Mark Ruffalo reprise his role as the Smart Hulk hybrid we saw in of Avengers: Endgame, but there’s a good chance that Maslany could reprise her role in future team-up films on the big screen.

The future is wide open for Marvel’s She-Hulk, as the series is rumored to hit Disney+ in 2022. A lot can change between now and then, but as soon as any news on this front is confirmed or corrected, you can check back in with CinemaBlend for the details! Meanwhile, you can see Tatiana Maslany in her most recent acting gig, on the first season of HBO’s Perry Mason, if you’re a subscriber to HBO or HBO Max.
