Spoilers ahead for the August 18 episode of TLC's Counting On.
Jinger Duggar revealed earlier this year that she suffered a miscarriage when she was expecting her second child, and now the Counting On star has shared the emotional story behind the miscarriage. With the new season of Counting On airing on TLC now, viewers got to hear firsthand what Jinger and husband Jeremy Vuolo went through.
In the latest episode, Jinger Duggar revealed that she and Jeremy Vuolo surprised the Duggar family with the news that she was pregnant via gingerbread house during a family night, with Jinger and Jeremy connecting with the rest of the Duggars from Los Angeles over video. Then, Jinger explained the tragic turn of events:
Recently we had announced to my family the news that we were expecting. That night, I started having some concerning signs. Throughout the middle of the night I started just waking up and just having more and more spotting and it was not normal. I knew. So I called my mom that morning, and she just kind of helped walk me through what it could be. She had had that happen before with a pregnancy, and she was able to keep the baby. She said, ‘There is still a chance, so go in and see.’ And so we went in and they tried to check for a heartbeat, and they couldn’t find a heartbeat. And they did an ultrasound and said that we had lost the baby.
Jinger Duggar began experiencing "concerning signs" the very night of the day when she and Jeremy Vuolo told the family that they were expecting their second child, and they learned of the miscarriage the next day. Jinger was visibly emotional while telling the story, and had tears in her eyes when Jeremy added that "the timing of it" was very difficult, and the loss hit them hard.
She was also still emotionally recovering from the miscarriage, as was clear when her mom and some of her sisters came to Los Angeles. The good news is that Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo were clearly carrying on in their lives, with Jeremy planning an elaborate surprise party for Jinger that involved bringing in members of her family, and Jinger was thrilled by the surprise.
And the very good news for their family is that Jinger Duggar is pregnant again! She confirmed the rumors that had been swirling that she was expecting another child, and she confirmed that she and Jeremy Vuolo have another baby on the way this fall.
