Why 90 Day Fiancé's Debbie Was Totally Right About Colt And Jess

Colt Johnson 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? TLC

Warning! The following contains spoilers for the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? episode "Burnt Bridges And Bitter Truths." Read at your own risk!

I'm beginning to fully grasp why this spinoff is called 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, considering the only couple that seems to be living happily ever after at the moment is on a completely different spinoff. I say this as things seemingly hit rock bottom for Colt Johnson after mother Debbie Johnson blew the lid open that Colt hadn't exactly cut his friend Vanessa Guerra out of his life. Debbie was wrong for throwing her son under the bus like that, but was she inevitably proven right about his relationship Jess Caroline? I think so.

Before I get into how, let's first recap what happened in the latest 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? episode. After Jess Caroline learned that Colt Johnson's friend Vanessa Guerra was still in the picture, she stormed off and managed to find Vanessa's contact information. After the women had a brief text exchange, she went back upstairs and began chucking her heels at Colt. Vanessa obviously revealed that she still talks to him all the time, which was basically the exact opposite of what Colt had told Jess.

Jess was pissed, and as she packed her bags, told Colt she was leaving to spend the night at her ex-boyfriend's house and that she would have sex with him. Colt followed her down to her ride, and even managed to sneak in the notion that he was going to propose to her, but then her ride sped off so that she could possibly do the dirty deed that she promised. A saddened Colt explained to the camera that he wasn't expecting this to be his final night in Brazil, and he wasn't sure where they currently stood after that fracas.

I don't necessarily condone Colt's mom Debbie Johnson intentionally stirring the pot letting Jess Caroline know that Vanessa Guerra was watching the cats, but at least it led to a more important truth coming out. Can I just act like Debbie was more than a little right about Jess needing to grow up, considering Jess went off to bang her ex immediately after finding out Colt was talking to a friend that she didn't like? It was immature all the way around, especially between two people that are in a committed relationship.

It's obviously not all on Jess Caroline though, and to be honest, a lot of people say and do outrageous things when they're emotionally hurt. What may have been more shocking was Colt's surprise in-the-midst-of-the-bullshit reveal that he was going to propose, and that it seems like he may still intend to do that if she returns. It's exactly what Debbie was afraid Colt would do, and why she thought it was too soon for him to be jumping into another relationship after his divorce. Especially since his own lies were the catalyst for all this.

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? may have shown Debbie Johnson being a true pain in the ass about Jess Caroline and Colt Johnson's ex Larissa Dos Santos Lima, but it's not like she's necessarily wrong about her son. He's pursuing relationships for all the wrong reasons, and getting in way too deep when he still doesn't fully want to change his ways for any committed relationships. Colt wasn't and still isn't ready for such permanence, and to give credit where it's due, Debbie knew that from the start.

Will Colt and Jess patch things up, or will Debbie get her wish by Jess going away completely? Let us know in the comments and tune in to 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET on TLC.
