For participants in The Bachelor franchise, the road to eternal romance has not always been an easy one, as The Bachelorette’s Ali Fedotowsky would probably attest. Fedotowsky recently revealed that she'd gotten into a “screaming fight” with one producer and walked off of the show. But what could have led to such a dramatic moment?
During The Greatest Seasons Ever retrospective, Ali Fedotowsky explained why she was “mad for women everywhere” during her season of The Bachelorette, with the reason for her ire being that Rego had come onto the show, cheating on his secret girlfriend. (Sounds familiar.) But if you thought it was an incident with Justin “Rated R” Rego, think again.
Surprisingly, it was not that incident that led to Ali Fedotowsky’s intense exchange with a Bachelorette producer, but rather the result of a date with another contestant – Kasey Kahl, aka the guy who got a tattooed tribute to Fedotowsky. According to Fedotowsky, a date with Kahl had driven her to the point of wanting to flat-out quit the show, telling ET:
I got into a full-on screaming fight with my producer, saying, 'I'm not giving him a rose! This is too cheesy, this is not happening!' And she was like, 'You have to give him a chance.' I'm like, 'I'm not going to give him a chance,' and I walked off the show. I said, 'I'm done, I quit, I'm not going to be the Bachelorette anymore.'
It is a moment of massive drama that fans of The Bachelorette and The Bachelor have gotten used to at this point in the franchise’s nearly twenty-year run. In that same vein, Ali Fedotowsky does not think that Colton Underwood’s headline-generating “jump the fence” moment was a one-off for the romantic reality show, either.
Fans will recall that The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood vaulted a fence in an attempt to evade producers (and the camera crews). The incident that occurred after contestant Cassie Randolph revealed her doubts about him and left the show herself. Underwood would go on to say that he did not expect to escape altogether, but just needed some solitude. It is moments like those that Ali Fedotowsky thinks every contestant has had to face during filming. In her words:
I think every Bachelor and Bachelorette has their 'jump the fence' Colton Underwood moment. [The audience] just won't always see it. I think the show is being more generous to allow us to see those real moments, because that's ultimately what everyone wants to see.
Bachelor Nation lives for all of the drama, and they are not in any danger of it running in short supply. Ali Fedotowsky got her start in Bachelor Nation as a hopeful vying for Jake Pavelka’s heart in Season 14 of The Bachelor. From there, she went on to be the sixth star of The Bachelorette. Much time has passed since then, with The Bachelorette entering Season 16 soon, and a lot is happening on that front.
The original Season 16 choice for Bachelorette, Clare Crawley, has reportedly quit the show after finding true love early into filming. Tayshia Adams, who starred in Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor, is said to be replacing Crawley. Bachelor Nation is still having to stay tuned for the official announcement.
As for Ali Fedotowsky’s search for love, The Bachelorette star went on to choose Roberto Martinez during her season. They ended up breaking up, though, and Ali Fedotowsky went on to find more lasting love with her now-husband, Kevin Manno. They got married in 2017 and have two children together. All is well that ends up well, I suppose. Ali Fedotowsky did not find her future spouse on The Bachelorette, but she is not alone in that.
