Streaming viewership has shot up in huge ways across the middle of 2020 for several obvious reasons, which might give many viewers hope that original series on services like Netflix and Amazon are safe from cancellation. Unfortunately, that hasn't really been the case, and the latest streaming fan-favorite to get the axe is the romantic dramedy High Fidelity, which was formally cancelled at Hulu this week after releasing only a single season. To be expected, star Zoë Kravitz had thoughts about that decision.

High Fidelity's cast members were reportedly notified on Wednesday about Hulu's decision to end the series, which was no doubt a bummer of an announcement for all involved. Zoë Kravitz shared her thoughts about the cancellation on Instagram, and you can check out what she had to say below.

i wanna give a shout out to my #highfidelity family. thank you for all the love and heart you put into this show. i'm in awe of all of you. and thank you to everyone who watched, loved and supported us. #breakupssuck

Rather than offering up a sharpened and emotional reaction to Hulu's cancellation of High Fidelity, Zoë Kravitz took the classy high road and offered up praise and appreciation for the rest of the cast and and crew that were responsible for putting the memorable first season together. Beyond that, the actress also gave thanks to the vocal and passionate High Fidelity fanbase for keeping the love going during the past six months since Season 1's streaming debut.

It appears that Hulu didn't offer up any specific reasons for why High Fidelity got its untimely cancellation, though Deadline reported that it apparently wasn't an easy decision for the Powers That Be to arrive at. Not only has High Fidelity built up a sizable fanbase, but the book-to-movie-to-TV adaptation was also pretty big with critics. But even though the cast's contracts were extended by a month to allow for more deliberation, the end result is that fans won't be getting another season of Kravitz's Rob dealing with relationship issues. As the star herself put it, break-ups suck.

Check out her full post below, in which she shared quite a few pics from Season 1.

High Fidelity – which also starred Jake Lacy, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, David H. Holmes, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rainbow Sun Francks and more – came to life in 2018 and was originally set up as a Disney+ original series. It was a year later, in April 2019, when execs decided that the show skewed too adult for the family-oriented streaming service, and High Fidelity was ported to Hulu. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if the show has much of a shot of finding a new streaming home after this cancellation, so fans shouldn't hold out too much hope on that front.

Don't forget, however, that Zoë Kravitz will be rocking hard as The Batman's Catwoman whenever Matt Reeves' DC superhero film is able to be finalized and unleashed on eager audiences everywhere. One can only wonder if High Fidelity had lasted another season if Kravitz's turn as the comic book villainess had come out in the meantime.

High Fidelity may not have a second season on the way, but fans can still binge on Season 1 to their hearts' content on Hulu right now. Check out everything coming to the streaming service in August, and bookmark our Fall 2020 TV premiere schedule to see what is coming to the small screen soon.
