the 100 a little sacrifice sanctum indra emori murphy

Spoilers ahead for Episode 9 of The 100 Season 7, called "A Little Sacrifice."

The 100 has returned from a couple weeks off with a doozy of an episode that ended with more than one key character dead. In "A Little Sacrifice," the conflicts on both Sanctum and Bardo came to a head, and the results were bloody and more than a little gruesome. Since we're past the halfway point in the final season of a show that is notoriously deadly, multiple notable characters dying raises the question: who's next?

The characters to die in "A Little Sacrifice" were none other than Diyoza, Anders, and (seemingly) Indra. Indra's number has been up ever since she betrayed Sheidheda and he survived, putting her at the top of the list of people he needed to get rid of. To her credit, she put up a very good fight in single combat, and she only lost when she knelt to save Madi. The 100 didn't actually show her body, so she technically might be severely injured rather than dead, but it's also possible that what happened to her body couldn't be shown on The CW. Sheidheda did not take it easy on her.

As for Anders, his death was actually spoiled months ago by actor Neal McDonough himself, but his status as the secondary bad guy on Bardo meant that his odds of survival weren't the best anyway. He did get a pretty memorable death, courtesy of Hope, who slit his throat with a dart.

Echo hadn't given up on her quest for vengeance on the people of Bardo just because she had faked her way through Disciple training, and she tortured Levitt into giving up the means to access Gen 9, a.k.a. the biological weapon that was responsible for the crystallization and deaths of the native Bardoans. Although Echo chose not to dump the Gen 9 into the water supply, Hope couldn't be talked down from trying to kill everybody on Bardo. Diyoza had to intervene to stop the genocide, which unfortunately resulted in a drop of Gen 9 touching her, and she perished as a result.

So, with at least two notable characters dead and Indra looking pretty down for the count as well, who will be the next to die? Sheidheda ordered his followers to find Madi and kill her after she stabbed his eye out in an ill-fated attempt to save Indra, so she has a pretty sizable target on her back. Murphy is rising up as a hero, which makes me nervous that something bad will happen to him or Emori. Jackson is in danger too, as he's probably the most disposable of the good guys on Sanctum. The others all have storylines, while Jackson is simply part of theirs.

I've been worried about Miller and Niylah for weeks, since they're arguably the most disposable of the group currently on Bardo. The Disciples have some pretty big reasons to want to punish Hope and Echo, since Anders would still be alive and Gen 9 wouldn't have been used if not for the two of them. Bellamy and Gaia are still MIA, if we assume that Bellamy didn't actually die in what seemed to be his final stand earlier in Season 7.

Honestly, the only characters who I think are safe at this point are the big ones like Clarke, Raven, and Octavia, and only because they're more likely to die toward the end of the series, if at all. I will say that Murphy himself is probably safe, based on some comments from Richard Harmon, and if Bellamy is alive, I don't see him dying for good until toward the end either. For now, we can only wait and see.

The next new episode of The 100 will air on Wednesday, August 12 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. For some additional viewing options now and in the coming weeks, check out our 2020 summer TV premiere schedule.
