Vikings Vet Travis Fimmel's New Streaming Show Raised By Wolves Looks Incredible In First Trailer

One of the more anticipated sci-fi TV shows over the past couple of years has been the Ridley Scott-led Raised by Wolves, which went from being a TNT series to making the leap to streaming for HBO Max. After seeing the pretty spectacular first trailer for the show, I cannot imagine Raised By Wolves bringing the same level of bloody genre action to basic cable. (Though I can imagine that it will later be revealed as a stealth Alien spinoff at some point.)

The very first look at the show came during the Raised by Wolves panel during the Television Critics Association summer press tour, where creator and showrunner Aaron Guzikowski was joined by executive producer David W. Zucker and stars Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim. Without further ado, check out this increasingly intense trailer, in which Vikings vet Travis Fimmel serves as a metaphorical Big Bad Wolf.

After seeing what Travis Fimmel did with fellow iconic genre director Sam Raimi for Quibi's 50 States of Fear, I could not be more impressed with what's happening in trailer for his team-up with Ridley Scott. The trailer checks all kinds of boxes for me as a sci-fi fan. Lots of mysterious imagery? Check. Sympathetic-looking androids that could also lead to massive chaos? Check. Weird bones and plants? Check. Okay maybe that's not something I always look for, but it doesn't hurt.

I mean seriously, I don't know what's going on with this bonkers-looking creature crawling all over the place, or even if that's the same being that's leaping toward the screen. However, both things still freak me out all the same, especially when they're juxtaposed like that.

Here's the basic summary for what fans can expect from Raised by Wolves.

Raised by Wolves centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

That logline certain sounds simple enough, even if the trailer makes the show look extremely complicated in certain ways. It also doesn't do much to set up the cast members' characters in easy-to-grasp ways. Beyond Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim, Raised by Wolves also stars Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Jordan Loughran, Matias Varela, Feli Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong and, of course, Travis Fimmel. The show is being executive produced by Ridley Scott, as well as showrunner Aaron Guzikowski, David W. Zucker, Jordan Sheehan, Adam Kolbrenner and Mark Huffam.

Now check out the first poster for the series, which definitely speaks to Amanda Collin's enigmatic role as "Mother."
