Lea Thompson And Other Celebs Corroborate 'Mean Ellen' Rumors

Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

The Ellen DeGeneres Show has seen its fair share of issues over the past few months. Most recently, former employees alleged that the series’ producers had created a toxic work culture and others would later accuse top show executives of sexual assault and misconduct. No claims have made against DeGeneres herself, yet she has stepped forward to address the reported behavior that goes against her “be kind” motto. Now, Lea Thompson and other celebrities are coming forward to chime in on the “mean Ellen” claims.

Actress and director Lea Thompson recently took to Twitter to comment on a story regarding the alleged mistreatment of the crew of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In a brief post, she agreed with the sentiments:

True story. It is.

Lea Thompson was responding to a story that involved Everybody Loves Raymond alum Brad Garrett, who appeared to be the first celebrity to call out The Ellen DeGeneres Show on social media. Not only did the actor refer to the reported mistreatment as “common knowledge,” but he also claimed he knows people who have been affected by it:

Sorry but it comes from the top. Know more than one who were treated horribly by her. Common knowledge.

At the time of this writing, neither Lea Thompson nor Brad Garrett have shared any additional details on what they claim to know about The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

While Ellen DeGeneres has gained a number of detractors in the wake of the allegations, she also appears to have a small number of supporters. The one who’s arguably been the most vocal is record executive Scooter Braun. In a lengthy Instagram post, he chastised people for taking shots at the longtime TV host and praised DeGeneres for her work:

People love to take shots. They love to see people fall. How quickly so many forget. How easy it is to stay quiet when it doesn’t effect them. @TheEllenShow is a kind, thoughtful, courageous human being who stands for what is right and highlights on her show the best of us.

Before the toxic work environment and sexual misconduct allegations surfaced, Ellen came under fire back in April after employees claimed they were being mistreated during the show’s remote phase. These employee claims included massive pay reductions and a lack in communication when it came to compensation.

At present, The Ellen DeGeneres Show is currently being investigated by Warner Bros. Television. As of right now, neither NBC nor Warner Bros. Television have made any indication that the program will be cancelled, and a producer has since shot down the idea of the show going off the air. There are, however, many on social media who are calling for DeGeneres to be replaced.

It’s hard to say how the network will proceed with The Ellen DeGeneres Show, but we can assume that any decisions made will be determined by the findings of the internal investigation. Keep it here at CinemaBlend for updates on the situation and for more news from the world of TV and film.
