Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't finished airing its seventh and final season just yet, but actor Joel Stoffer has already revealed that he's joining an exciting show next. Stoffer, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resident friendly Chronicom by the name of Enoch, will appear in the upcoming fourth season of Stranger Things. He didn't drop a ton of details about his Stranger Things role, but it's probably safe to say that he won't be another Chronicom!

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Joel Stoffer said this about joining Stranger Things for Season 4:

I've got a role that we haven't shot yet on Stranger Things. I don't expect it to become anything like long term, but it'll be coming up. They contact me and I'll go to Georgia, to Atlanta, and shoot it when they get back up and running. 'Cause they've been obviously shut down for a while. They haven't formed their schedule yet.

Based on Joel Stoffer's comments, his Stranger Things character probably won't be the biggest newcomer to appear in the fourth season. That, or the job might not become anything "long term" because he's killed off in Season 4. Honestly, a lot of people do die on this show, so S.H.I.E.L.D. fans shouldn't necessarily count on seeing the Enoch actor in a major ongoing role on Stranger Things, no matter how long the hit Netflix series ultimately lasts.

Of course, it may be a while before either S.H.I.E.L.D. fans or Stranger Things fans learn any more about Joel Stoffer's new character. Not only is Netflix pretty tight-lipped on Stranger Things spoilers, but production had to stop before it really got into gear. His role hasn't been shot, although interestingly, Stoffer did mention eventually going to Atlanta. Previous reports indicated that production would shift to New Mexico for at least part of Season 4.

Has something changed about filming, or will Joel Stoffer's character simply be based out of somewhere that only films in Atlanta? The actor elaborated on his casting, and the timing of it may yield some clues:

It was cast during quarantine a couple of months ago and I was sent the pages of my scene and that was it. And I didn't know any of the actors or... I didn't recognize any names in my scene.

Joel Stoffer not recognizing any names in his scene could mean one or more of three things: his character will interact with new or obscure existing characters, Stoffer isn't a diehard Stranger Things fan, and/or Stranger Things sent him a scene with fake names to prevent spoilers.

It's also worth noting that Joel Stoffer revealed that he wasn't cast until a "couple of months ago," which is particularly interesting in light of a reveal by the Stranger Things writers. In a social media post on June 18, the writers posted a photo confirming that the scripts for the full fourth season have been completed.

If Joel Stoffer was cast months ago and Stranger Things Season 4 scripts were only finished in mid-June, does that mean that his character appears early in the season? We can even dig a little deeper into conspiracy theorizing, which I for one think is appropriate for Stranger Things. Four scripts were completed when the cast got together for their table read, before prep had to shut down in March. Does this point toward Stoffer appearing in early-to-mid Season 4?

For now, Joel Stoffer can be found in new episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. since that heartbreaking twist was resolved, airing Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. The first three seasons of Stranger Things are available streaming on Netflix now.
