There has been a whole lot of bad news in recent months thanks to the current health crisis, and John Krasinski thought it was a good idea to start a show about the not-so-bad news. And so, Krasinski launched Some Good News on YouTube in late March to bring feel-good news to viewers from the comfort of his home. After eight full episodes and several short clips, the series aired its final episode on May 17. However, there’s good news for Some Good News! The Office vet’s YouTube series is headed to a streaming service for more episodes, but there will be some changes.

There are advance negotiations being made with ViacomCBS execs to launch Some Good News across the company's many platforms. According to TVLine, the deal could bring weekly episodes of the series to the streaming service CBS All Access. That said, John Krasinksi won’t be hosting the show like he did on YouTube, and someone else will step in to fill his shoes. As of this writing, a host has not yet been announced, but Krasinski will reportedly serve as executive producer and is also expected to make recurring appearances on the show.

In addition to weekly episodes of Some Good News, the ViacomCBS deal will include creating short-form content to air across a variety of the company’s outlets, including CBS News. In a statement, John Krasinski expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue bringing uplifting content to the masses. In his words:

Could not be more excited and proud to be partnering with CBS/Viacom to be able to bring Some Good News to so many more people. From the first episode, our goal was to create a news show dedicated entirely to good news. Never did I expect to be joining the ranks of such a historic news organization as CBS.

Some Good News was created by John Krasinski and Allyson Seeger, and the short-lived series brought a lot of happiness and touching moments to about 2.5 million YouTube subscribers. Full episodes ranged anywhere between 15 to 25-minutes and had a ton of memorable moments, including The Office cast reuniting via Zoom and subsequently surprising a newly married couple.

Yet another episode involved a surprise performance by the original Broadway cast of Hamilton and a virtual graduation episode that brought together Oprah Winfrey, Jon Stewart, and more. Some Good News was incredibly charming and I’m glad that a deal is being negotiated to bring viewers even more feel-good content.
