Yellowstone Season 3 Trailer Has Kevin Costner's John Dutton Keeping A Promise

John Dutton in Yellowstone season 3 played by Kevin Costner.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone for a long while. The show’s so popular it was already renewed for Season 4 well before the Season 3 premiere, but now that we’re finally inching closer to Season 3, we finally can take a good look at what’s coming. That’s right, today the cabler released the first trailer for Season 3.

In it, Kevin Costner’s John Dutton reveals the promise he’s been keeping over the course of the series in a conversation with Wes Bentley’s Jamie Dutton. But in the world of Yellowstone, it’s not so easy keeping a promise. Take a look at the dramatic first trailer for the upcoming episodes below.

In the trailer there’s a lot of talk about “economic evolution,” which in this case means building an airport and a city around it on formerly untamed land. While this seems to mean people are coming for the Dutton Ranch, John Dutton is not taking the threats toward himself and his way of life lying down. It all seems to tie into what Kevin Costner said we could expect in the upcoming season a few months ago. At the time, he was cagey but said of Season 2 twisting and turning into Season 3:

They were threatened as a family. My world was shaken up, and now there's going to be consequences. There's big drama going on right under the surface.

New season, interesting new threats. The trailer comes just a few months after Paramount Network also released a Season 3 clip introducing Kelly Reilly’s Beth to a new character who will be played by Josh Holloway, of Lost fame. We get a few glimpses of his character Roarke Carter midway through this trailer as well, including a dramatic exchange between his character and Beth.

She's not messing around, either. He tries to warn her and she simply says, 'You are the trailer park. I am the tornado.' There's definitely tension and we'll have to wait and see exactly how that manifests itself on the show when it does finally begin airing.

TV is kind of in an interesting stage right now. A lot of spring TV has wrapped or is wrapping as some shows didn't finish the complete season of filming before current global events shut the industry down for a time. Meanwhile, other networks and channels already had some TV locked and loaded for the summer and Yellowstone is among those fine programs. You'll be able to catch new episodes of the Paramount Network series starting on June 21, 2020 -- which just so happens to also be Father's Day. In the meantime, see what else is coming with our full schedule.
