Zac Efron Confirms Medical Emergency But Has Good News For Worried Fans

Zac Efron looking real handsome and buff.

National treasure Zac Efron has had a rough go recently. He was filming a new series in Papua New Guinea, disturbingly titled Killing Zac Efron, when he reportedly contracted an infection. Some outlets are calling it Typhoid Fever, others are just giving the more general description. Either way, he was in rough shape, but thankfully, he’s now well enough to travel and has returned home for the holidays.

Reports of the hospitalization started gaining steam over the weekend; so, the actor decided to step in to reassure fans that he was on the mend and they needn’t worry. Here’s the exact text

Very thankful to everyone who has reached out. I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G. I’m home for the holidays with my friends and family. Thanks for all the love and concern, see you in 2020!

Killing Zac Efron is an upcoming show hosted by the title actor and set to debut on the streaming service Quibi. If you haven’t heard of Quibi, that’s because it hasn’t even launched yet. It’s a platform for mobile content (and some rebooted or renewed older shows), and it is set to go public in April. Killing Zac Efron seems earmarked as one of its flagship properties. It follows the star as he explores jungles and various other remote places.

The success or failure of these types of shows is always correlated with the energy and the personality of the host. To watch, you either need to enjoy the running commentary they deliver, their observations or their face and mannerisms while they’re actually doing stuff. My guess is Zac Efron and his jump in and try it personality is going to be a good fit for this type of show, but we won’t know for sure until the final product comes out.

To me, the more interesting question right now is how they’ll handle the sickness/ hospitalization. Judging by the title, my guess would be the show leans into it hard to accentuate the danger element. That being said, if the show was originally intended to have more of a tongue-in-cheek vibe, then going too hard on something as scary as an infection could undermine the rest of the content. Long story short, it’ll be interesting and tell us a lot about what we’re in for.

In conclusion, I’m very happy Zac Efron is still alive and kicking. He’s not only a very fun celebrity personality, he’s also an underrated actor who I remain convinced will start picking up juicy roles in Oscar-caliber movies once people realize what he’s capable of. I can’t wait to check out Killing Zac Efron, provided Quibi launches without issue in time for me to watch the Legends Of The Hidden Temple reboot.
