With the passing of another year comes many things we all look forward to. Merry and bright holiday times with family and friends, awesome movie releases, big winter finales for our favorite television shows, year-end top 10 lists, and, of course, PornHub's list of all the things that made people...happy, in the past 12 months. As in years past, there were some notable TV characters / shows among those ranks, and I believe you'll see a bit of a pattern develop if you take a look at the full list. In order of popularity, here we go!

Harley Quinn

Teen Titans

Family Guy

The Simpsons

Rick and Morty

American Dad

Big Mouth

Walking Dead

Power Rangers

Scooby-Doo

Hold on a sec...(does math). Why, what do you know, most of these characters or shows are animated, aren't they? Leave it up to the good folks at PornHub to give the people want they want. And, it turns out that people really, really like to spend their free time thinking naughty thoughts about cartoon characters.

As I alluded to earlier, this love of animation is no new phenomenon. Last year's PornHub Top 10 TV and movie-related searches was graced by returning favorites The Simpsons, Family Guy and Harley Quinn (who topped that list, as well), with additional appearances by The Incredibles and Elastigirl, specifically (she would be...bendy).

Harley Quinn has been a favorite for many moons, regardless of the type of media she appears in. Obviously, she was first seen in all her clowny cartoon glory for Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, made the move into comic books and finally live action in the 2016 film Suicide Squad. While there are certainly plenty of people who would want a living human version of the vexing vixen, we can't deny that Harley has mostly been animated on screen. Plus, DC Universe recently debuted a new animated show focusing on the mallet-wielding madwoman, so it's hard to deny that people love her cartoony.

The same can, sort of, be said for those lovably dysfunctional Teen Titans. While there is a live action take on the young superheroes which just wrapped Season 2 (see Titans, also on DC Universe), we've gotten way more seasons of the crime-fighters in animation. Teen Titans aired from 2003-2006, and Teen Titans Go! is still going (haha) strong since debuting in 2013. These characters are generally, you know, teenagers (with most of the characters from Big Mouth even younger), so I'll let you decide what to do with the news that they turned up in a PornHub top search list.

As for why people seem to be so intrigued by cartoon characters when they go a-lookin for porn, well, I'm not a psychologist or anything, but I think there's an easy answer. Pretty much all porn tastes boil down to fantasy, and who better to play those fantasies out with (on?) than someone who's not real or even based on a real person? There will be no worries about Rick Sanchez yucking your yum if you present him with a sexy situation. Actually, Rick would probably be glad to burp all over whatever you want to do, so there's that to look forward to.

Be sure to enjoy your fill of animated entertainment (adult or otherwise) this holiday season, and for everything else check out our guides to what you can watch on the small screen early next year!
