Ex-Bachelor In Paradise Contestant Admits He Created Drama On Purpose

As any solid member in good standing of Bachelor Nation knows, if you're going to tune in to watch a bunch of hot singles try to find love on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette or Bachelor in Paradise, you are also going to get lots of drama. There will be lies, backstabbing, tiffs over silly stuff, actually legitimate complaints, personality clashes and, sometimes, even very real fist fights over piñatas. The contestants on these shows probably don't usually go in wanting to get into confrontations with others, but Daniel Maguire has recently admitted to being an exception to that rule.

Daniel Maguire first hit Bachelor Nation with a stint as a suitor on JoJo Fletcher's 2016 season of The Bachelorette, then turned up on that year's Bachelor in Paradise...and the next year's BIP and several other reality shows. Now we know that at least some of the drama that Maguire was involved in during his previous times on reality dating shows was created on purpose just to keep himself entertained. Here's what he had to say:

I've always kind of liked to stir the pot and ruffled some feathers. I kind of like to troll people, I guess is the best way to say things. I can do it with a straight face and people often don't realize I'm just trolling them and messing around the whole time. Otherwise it's boring. I have to get my kick somehow.

Alright, Mr. Maguire. Fine! But, just so you know, this is kinda a shitty way to keep yourself busy when you're dealing with a group of people who are already on edge because they're trying to find love or even just find their 15 minutes of fame which might turn into actual jobs in the real world.

Honestly, creating drama on purpose is a bad idea for many reasons, not just because of how it would impact the people around you. These are purely selfish reasons to stay on the straight and narrow, but what if you start some mess as a joke, don't cop to it being "trolling" soon enough (or at all) and end up in a fight that makes you look like an idiot...in front of a large portion of the country?

Also, let's not forget that tension can already run high sometimes on Bachelor shows. People are away from their jobs, friends, families, hobbies and are probably a bit sex starved. What if your "messing around" leads to actual fisticuffs because there's just too much pent up energy all around? It sounds like Daniel Maguire thinks the possibility of a black eye or busted nose is a good way to fill time, but I really hope most of us don't feel the same.

Daniel Maguire, who spoke to Entertainment Tonight ahead of his appearance on another reality dating show, MTV's Ex on the Beach: Peak of Love, said that his approach to these shows is simply to have fun and not worry how you come across to others, because you can't really control that anyway. And, really if you're going to go around starting trouble, that's probably the best outlook to have. Just remember, Maguire: Don't start none, won't be none.

You can catch Daniel Maguire on Ex on the Beach: Peak of Love when it hits MTV tonight at 9 p.m. EST. The Bachelor will return to ABC on Monday, January 6 at 8 p.m. EST, with Peter "Windmill Sex" Weber looking for love.
