The Mandalorian launched with Disney+ on November 12, and the very first live-action Star Wars series promises to take the franchise in some exciting new directions. The show was developing Season 2 well before Season 1 began airing, and showrunner Jon Favreau revealed that filming had already begun as of the end of October. Now, Favreau has shared a set photo from Season 2 filming. Take a look:

While I wouldn't exactly call this a huge spoiler for Season 2 (unless you're a Star Wars fan who was concerned that Pedro Pascal's Mandalorian would lose his helmet by the end of Season 1), seeing proof of The Mandalorian actually filming Season 2 is pretty exciting, especially now that we've gotten a look at what The Mandalorian can deliver. Jon Favreau wasn't kidding when he boasted about the effects being even better than some of the movies!

The presence this particular prop is a sign that the Mandalorian hasn't lost or abandoned wearing the helmet, which can only be a good thing. The Mandalorian helmet has been iconic to Star Wars ever since Boba Fett first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, and would the leading man of The Mandalorian have looked so thrilling and mysterious in the trailer if his face wasn't concealed?

As viewers who have already watched the first episode can surely attest, the armor is as impressive in action as the trailer promised. If you have already checked out The Mandalorian, however, read on!

Spoilers ahead for the first episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+.

The the presence of the helmet in Jon Favreau's Instagram post suggests that the Mandalorian hasn't changed his creed about concealing his face, at least some of the time. The reveal in The Mandalorian's "Chapter 1" that Mandalorians in the post-Return of the Jedi era don't remove their armor seemingly contradicted a plot point from Star Wars Rebels, which took place right before the events of Rogue One and A New Hope.

That said, there may have been something that happened between the end of Rebels and the beginning of The Mandalorian to change how Mandalorians value the cultural significance of their armor, and we can only hope that The Mandalorian reveals the reason for always wearing the helmet before the hiatus between Season 1 and Season 2 kicks off.

The Mandalorian: 10 Biggest Questions After Episode 1

Still, at least knowing that the show is already in production on Season 2 means that even if Pedro Pascal doesn't show his face in Season 1, there is another batch of episodes already guaranteed for him to potentially remove the helmet. For now, you can catch new episodes of The Mandalorian releasing Fridays on Disney+, with one break between episodes that just so happens to be timed to the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
