Stephen Amell Looks Grim As Oliver Queen In Final Arrow Season Poster

Arrow Season 8 Poster

Arrow has always been a dark show, but Season 8 might turn out to be the grimmest of all. Headed into its final season, there’s a lot in store for Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen, including a new mission for The Monitor ahead of the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover. A new poster offers a closer look at the masked vigilante.

The CW has released a brand new poster of the Green Arrow and the tagline definitely seems to be teasing Oliver’s impending death. “Heroes fall. Legends rise,” reads the poster. Check out Oliver in all his brooding glory below!

Interestingly, the new suit looks like a combination of the Season 7 and Season 1 suits. There’s a little less leather and a lot more cloth in the jacket. Considering how much of an homage Season 8 will be to the show’s early days, this costume choice makes a lot of sense. While the poster looks great and all, Oliver’s wearing his mask, which brings up a plethora of potential questions regarding the season.

After all, Oliver was outed as the Green Arrow at the end of Season 7, so there’s really no reason to conceal his identity anymore. He and the rest of Team Arrow even collaborated with the Star City police for awhile. Could he be using the mask to hide his identity while traveling throughout the multiverse? It’s definitely possible. Whatever the reason, it’s a nice return to form for the vigilante and a great nod to the show’s earlier seasons (there’s a theme here).

Additionally, Arrow will see David Ramsey’s Diggle and Katie Cassidy Rodgers’ Black Canary joining Oliver on his mysterious “Crisis” mission. All three actors have been with the series since the pilot and having them work together will prove to be a fascinating new dynamic for the show. It’s good to keep things fresh.

Season 8 will also see the exciting return of Oliver’s younger sister, Thea Queen (Willa Holland), who’s set to return for a number of episodes in the show’s final season. Other familiar faces include Susanna Thompson’s Moira Queen and John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn. Recently, Katie Cassidy Rodgers took to Twitter with a touching message. She expressed her gratitude for getting to play Laurel Lance for all these years and thanked the show for giving her the chance to direct an episode of Arrow for the first time.

As the DCTV shows' premiere dates draw closer, there have been a number of news items about the Arrow-verse recently that seem like they've been pulled out of every DC Comics fans' dream. Though many didn’t think it would ever happen, it was announced that Tom Welling and Erica Durance will be reprising their Smallville roles as Clark Kent and Lois Lane for Crisis on Infinite Earths. The only thing I’m left wondering about is what Stephen Amell meant when he teased that he’d be playing multiple Olivers back during San Diego Comic-Con. Only time will tell.

Arrow Season 8 will premiere on Tuesday, October 15 at 9 p.m ET. For more Arrow-verse premiere dates, be sure to check out our Fall TV guide.
