The Voice's Kelly Clarkson Finally Explains Why She Has A Talk Show

Many fans were surprised early last fall when it was announced that singing superstar and The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson would be getting her own talk show. Clarkson still has one of the biggest careers of any of the American Idol winners, plus she already has a side gig, so many were wondering why she would want to take on a job in such a crowded field, where she wouldn't be able to lean on what we've come to know her for.

Well, it wasn't just fans who've been pondering these questions, as Kelly Clarkson revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that the most common question she has gotten while promoting her new show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, has been why, exactly, she's doing it. It turns out that Clarkson does have some good reasons, starting off with something she loves to do...

Why not? I don't know, you gotta matter 'til you don't, people! And, I love talking!

My goodness. Doesn't Kelly Clarkson just seem like one of the most real megahit makers out there right now? Obviously, she was being a little bit glib with her answer here, but it does seem like there's some truth to it. Diversification helps a lot when it comes to having a long career in entertainment, so if this talk show works for Clarkson it will just be another avenue by which she can gain / keep fans intrigued. Plus, there's no reason for it to interfere with either her music career or time on The Voice.

Also, Kelly Clarkson does really seem to love talking. I've only seen a few clips of her show, but she's so bubbly, positive and a bit of a fast-talker that her energy is really infectious. That's a solid quality to have as a daytime talk show host, so, good on you, Kelly Clarkson!

Believe it or not, Clarkson's reasons for wanting to do her new show aren't all selfish, and she does actually have a motive that will probably make you like her even more and want to check out the show if you haven't already.

There's a lot of negativity happening, a lot of division happening, and one of my big things - even on tour - is to bring people together. My audience is filled with random people that would probably never be in the same place. I want my show to be like that, and [my husband] kinda sold me on the fact of all the good we'd be able to do, and inclusion and all of that.

Awwww. I love this. Kelly Clarkson really wants to try and put some positive energy and good out into the world with her talk show, and it would appear that she's already well on her way to doing just that. She's certainly had some public moments of doing this without even having her own daytime talker. You can take a look at her full interview with Ellen below:

You can check out all of Kelly Clarkson's energetic talks when The Kelly Clarkson show airs, Monday through Friday, at 2 p.m. EST on NBC. For more of what you can watch on the small screen in the coming weeks, be sure to bookmark our 2019 fall TV premiere guide!
