America's Got Talent is just a stone's throw away from the finals, and Season 14 is at a point where it almost feels unfair to cut anyone. The most recent episode was a fantastic example of that as a case could be made for any one of the competitors of the evening to be one of the five who move ahead in the finals. Everyone brought their A-game, including light painter Alex Dowis who may have given his best performance to date.

Alex Dowis drew an emotional display for the America's Got Talent judges and guest judge Queen Latifah, as he created a tribute to the first responders who help the public each and every day. The performance floored the judges, and the audience was all cheers at its end.

Just when it seemed like he had nothing left to show he's capable of advancing, Alex Dowis continues to up his game on America's Got Talent. This time his theme was perfect, as there couldn't be a better time to work on a tribute to first responders than just ahead of the anniversary of 9/11. Dowis was able to reference the tragic event in America's history in a way that was respectful, and didn't rely on any graphic imagery to drive his point across.

There's really something to be said for how inventive Alex Dowis was with this performance as well. It wasn't all about the drawings, and Dowis found ways to incorporate himself into the act to help amplify the effect of his drawings. I particularly liked the idea to use his lighting tools as resuscitation paddles, which then brought his drawing back to life. Out of the entire performance, that was the moment that screamed he has a shot at advancing to the finals.

As was mentioned earlier though, Alex Dowis is at a bit of a disadvantage in this recent round of eliminations. Literally every contestant put on show that deemed them worthy of advancing to the finals, and it's really on who America votes for the most to get through. Dowis certainly has the talent and imagination to make it to the next stage, but whether or not people think he deserves a finals appearance over the talented musicians, magicians, and sexy acrobats is a different story.
