The CW Plans To Add A New DC Show To The Arrow-verse In 2020

Arrow-verse The CW

The Arrow-verse is entering what feels like the most exciting chapter in its history to date. Arrow will end a tremendous run on television., Batwoman will officially kick off, and "Crisis on Infinite Earths" will feature some pretty spectacular things. While this may feel like the peak or final chapter of something truly great, The CW's President Mark Pedowitz teased more fun is on the way. Pedowitz teased the network is interested in debuting another new Arrow-verse series in the 2020-2021 television season, but what is on the way?

Unfortunately, Mark Pedowitz wasn't willing to talk about what hero may be the star of that series. It does seem as though the network has some options in mind, however, as he did confirm that whatever new show does premiere it would be set within the Arrow-verse. Now that Black Lightning is finally getting incorporated into the mix, is that something we should just start expecting?

What may be worth considering is that whatever hero or character is up for consideration may be appearing in the upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. After all, The CW debuted Batwoman long before the official premiere of her upcoming series, so it would track that a previously unknown hero may suddenly appear in the crossover, and have a future series set within the Arrow-verse.

To be honest, it does seem as though "Crisis on Infinite Earths" would be the best time to introduce a new DC hero due to the blending of the multiverse. With heroes of different worlds coming together, this new hero could be a part of another world previously unseen within the Arrow-verse. Or, they could be a fairly young hero who exists within The Flash and Arrow's shared worlds who chose this event to hop on the scene and strut their stuff.

One thing that does seem clear from conversations at Mark Pedowitz at the TCA summer press tour (via TVLine) is that the new series is not tied to the potential Arrow spinoff centered on Mia and William in the year 2040. Pedowitz briefly spoke on the possibility of that series, but did not give a lot more towards it than acknowledgement it's possible.

There’s a possibility, but we haven’t fully had the discussion about that one way or another.

There's many DC heroes out there that still haven't gotten a series, but it's hard to pinpoint which one of them The CW is eyeing for a series. One would imagine it will be set during the present day, however, given the Arrow-verse connection, which may rule out heroes like Terry McGinnis' Batman or Jonah Hex.

Is Arrow’s Series Finale Really The End For Oliver Queen?

The CW resumes its Arrow-verse programming in the fall, so be sure to stick with CinemaBlend in the meantime for news on what all is planned for the upcoming fall season.
