Walking Dead Fans Furious After Fair Episode's Shocking Ending Cut Off By DVR

The Walking Dead Carol and Henry

Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead Season 9, Episode 15, "The Calm Before."

Who is the bigger villain today -- Alpha or DVRs? The Walking Dead Season 9's big fair episode went on for 85 minutes, and not everyone was prepared for that. When many DVRs taped the episode, they didn't account for the extra 25 minutes. The ending had all the shockers, so fans who sat down to watch their recorded episodes missed the most important parts. Obviously those fans weren't happy. Here's one such fan:

It sounds like many other fans also had the episode cut off with Lydia in the theater. Fans use different services to record episodes and many people reported problems across different platforms:

YouTube even responded to one fan, who was commiserating with another:

Some fans already set their DVRs to record for an extra hour, and one fan suggested to another that they should set to record the following show to make sure they catch everything. Normally Talking Dead follows Walking Dead, but last night Talking Dead was pushed back to follow the return of Into the Badlands.

Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick actually mentioned the DVR cut-offs at the start of his episode. Before delving into the fair shockers, he first gave a spoiler alert, acknowledging the many fans who had posted that their DVRs cut off the entire ending.

That must've been so frustrating. Not every fan can watch the show live on Sunday nights. It's always tough to avoid spoilers after a major episode, since Twitter was basically created for live reactions, and people spread comments all over the web.

You can catch up on "The Calm Before" through AMC On Demand, rent it through Amazon Prime Video, or watch one of AMC's upcoming repeats of the episode before the season finale this Sunday.

Of course, if you did watch the episode, you know the ending included 10 characters with their heads on spikes. Poor Carol is cursed when it comes to children. And Hilltop seems to be cursed when it comes to leaders. At least one of the exiting stars suspects her character was written off because they didn't know what to do with her. It's possible. It's also possible Alpha has more nefarious plans up her sleeve.

Season 9, Episode 15 was "The Calm Before" and the Episode 16 season finale is "The Storm." There is a blizzard coming, showing snow for the first time on The Walking Dead. Check it out Sunday, March 31 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. FYI, my Zap2it TV listings show that episode is airing from 9 to 10:09 p.m. ET.
